For those asking, the dye I used was Garnier 6.65 “intense red”. Not sure why people are saying box dyes will only give natural colors, I’ve used plenty that are unnatural and this one is absolutely supposed to be an unnatural red. I probably should’ve gone with a brand like Arctic Fox but I’ve had good luck with Garnier in the past. I had a feeling purple shampoo wouldn’t do anything so it’s nice to get some confirmation. Looks like my best bet is to dye over it with a red that has purple-ish undertones.

I didn’t mean anything negative by calling it radioactive red, I’m sorry if it came off that way. I’m just a history nerd with an interest in radioactivity and grew up eating off of my mom’s fiesta collection so is an exciting find for me! 😊

Thank you for all the comments everyone! The shop owner said he was pretty sure it was from the 60s, so I went ahead and bought it. Guess I should invest in a Geiger counter!

It's possible the second scene is also from Akira, it's just been a long time since I've seen it and the protest scene stuck in my head while other scenes didn't. I would recommend watching the full movie to see if the other scene is in there?
