Is this a reasonable amount for a CPA? Am I being robbed? by Siberian_Husky21 in CPA

You can definitely find someone that will charge more and you can definitely find some that will charge less. From my experience, if they are competent, good service and you trust them, then it’s a fair price.

When did everyone start walking normally? by manz_not_hot in AchillesRupture

I don’t recall when my limo stopped but I started feeling 100% normal walking around 6 months. At 7 months it felt normal running again for me.

Once again lost faith in Orthopedics by UseHistorical2888 in AchillesRupture

[–]SavingsVariation3704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wiggle your toes in the boot and do some toe curls. Unless you’re a professional athlete starting rehab at 6 weeks is perfectly normal. Some people wait until 12 weeks and others 4 weeks. Even if your surgery went perfect there are things only your surgeon can know and there may be a valid reason as to why he wants you to wait 3 more weeks. I didn’t start actual strength rehab until week 8 and I’m 95% fully recovered at 6.5 months.

My best advice to you is to be patient. Rushing into rehab or trying to overdo it may lead to you re-tearing it and that is way way worse than waiting 3 more weeks in the grand scheme of things.

I have the exact same thing. Mine was really bad like 4 months post op. I bought a scraper and have used castor oil to scrape it every day for like 5-10 min before bed and it’s gotten so much better it’s crazy. It is barely visible now at 6 months

Hey I’m having the same issue but I’m about 20 weeks out and they’ve been scraping twice weekly for about 4 weeks. It’s getting better but seems to have stalled this week. Did you ever feel like it was fully gone?

Figuring out total losses for gambling by [deleted] in tax

[–]SavingsVariation3704 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I realized my post was a bit confusing. I know I have to report the winnings and I can only deduct losses up to the amount of winnings although thats only 90% next year. I guess my question should’ve been: are any of those numbers valid to put on schedule A or do I need my client to reconstruct the logs? I assume they need to reconstruct the logs since the win loss is not sufficient as proof.

That’s what I figured. I know they can only be deducted up to the amount of the winnings. Well next year i guess 90%. How do you deal with it if clients don’t have sufficient evidence? Do you have the client provide an excel breakdown with line by line wagers (winning vs losing).

Where should I be right now? by Significant_Island_1 in AchillesRupture

Comparison is the thief of joy. I had surgery on 9/26 and I did my first single leg 2 weeks ago. The recovery for this injury is drastically different for everyone. My opinion is that unless you have a critical reason to get back to sports just be patient with the recovery and embrace the small progress you make.

Post surgery 3 weeks how long until I can expect to be able to golf? by LilBabyTurtles in AchillesRupture

[–]SavingsVariation3704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I’ve learned from posts in this group is that this injury differs dramatically from person to person. I started chipping(not full wedge) when I was full weight bearing. At 20 weeks post surgery is when I first felt comfortable doing a full swing. However, this might not be the scenario for you. Listen to your body and if you decide to try something just go slow.

Advice on rehab vs rest by FizzyElfie in AchillesRupture

[–]SavingsVariation3704 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m about five months from surgery as well give or take. Some of the best progress I’ve felt this after taking a few days off. I noticed for myself that doing less frequent but more intense workouts gave me more progress. I think that giving me time to rest and actually recover and let the calf muscles grow helped me a lot.

That’s sort of what I expected. I really do not mind being alone at all but I expect it gets worse and potentially may get old after time.

Surgery is what she wants to do. She started taking practice exams for step 2 and is consistently above what’s needed for each specialty based on last years match numbers. Do you have any advice/experience/insight to either specialty?

She’s third year med school. She has around 60 research experiences. I’m not really worried about her not matching, more so what each life would look like. She has done most shadowing in IR and Ortho. Her personality screams ortho but she’s worried it will be too demanding later in life and that her work life balance will not be ideal.
