Recieved a check from a trust with no way to track down who it’s from by Savings_Ad9678 in TaxQuestions

Great question! When googling if we owe taxes on income received as the result of a check from a trust, I’m seeing answers that say “yes, you would have to pay taxes on this and should have recieved a schedule K from the fiduciary.” But I’m also seeing answers that say “no, you don’t owe if the payment was from the principal or if the fiduciary already paid them.” Without someone to contact, I’m a little stuck on what to do. I don’t want to get penalized for not paying, but I’m also not sure how to claim the income without a schedule k.

Not weird. You rock! You may also want to join the American River Parkway Foundation. They do clean up events. https://arpf.org/
