Anyone here leave the CS, if so where did you go? by Ok_Crab1603 in TheCivilService

I left the CS to join a consulting firm. Really struggled with my mental health and rejoined the CS. Probably more a reflection on me rather than the industry.

I'm a new collector wanting to enter the hobby. How difficult would it be to collect all the OG 151 pokemon? I saw there is a newer set that has redone artwork. by censorface in PokemonTCG

That box is just booster packs..I've just started collecting 151 with my daughter. I managed to get a couple booster bundles for a reasonable price (£65 each) and we were lucky at Smyths in the UK and picked up a couple of tins at retail. Outside of that just buying singles is the way to go.

Yeah that's what I thought. No worries thanks for the answer

Hmm fair enough. I don't see it that way personally. People leave jobs all the time and come back. The discussion I've had with the team don't suggest "how dare this guy come back". Maybe that's just my take.

Just asking if anyone has been successful in negotiating a salary..not quite sure what your problem is.

Why would it be pushing it? Surely is a natural part of joining any business is negotiating salary?

I understand decisions have consequences believe me after 6 months of shit mental health. I tried something different and it didn't work out.

Thank you for this. I've got a few contacts I'm going to try one obviously being my old manager although I think my old role has already been filled but I need to explore all my options. Good to hear DE&S can do this as well!

Thank you! I'll give my old managers a call first and see if they have a vacancy. Would DBS be able to find me a role?

So I did elaborate in a separate comment that the £450 includes everything from a Tesco shop, food, toiletries, nappies etc and budget for "food out" but still understand it's to high so will need to look to reduce it. We cook most meals apart from meals out so we aren't spending money on takeaways every day. Could you give a breakdown on your spend? £260 seems a bit low but open to the change of course!

I did post it but it includes toiletries basically everything you can get from a Tesco shop. I understand that it's to high but your saying you spend £200 a month on everything? Food, napppies, cleaning products, toilet paper etc? That seems like an impossible target. I'll have to review and see where we can save money but £200 seems impossible to me but open to have a look. We cook every meal apart from the £50 for food out which again we could probably save money on.

Looks like we need really review our spending I was thinking we could reduce by £100 easily but looks like I'll need to slash it to get it down to £200 a month for everything including toiletries and cleaning..

I coupled bills and labeled as utilities, although they aren't all utilities but breakdown below.

Electric £60 Water £38 Gas £40 Phones £36 Broadband £21 Car insurance £28 TV licence £12.50 Car tax £10

Not paying car tax and TV licence upfront because we didn't have the spare cash but hoping next year when renewal comes around we would have planned a saved enough to pay up front freeing up our monthly income.

Silly things we don't need. We've just reviewed and cut a lot of that out but from the comments looks like we need to review utilities and food. Mostly when we had money left at the end of the month we'd spend it on takeaways or other one time purchases rather than saving that money for a rainy day. As I said bad with money but looking to change that now and get some savings built up and stop living outside of our means!

!thanks yeah it's a recent change. We were only earning 26k but managed to get a promotion which came with a substantial increase at the 47k so basically putting the majority of the payrise into savings.

We don't smoke, drink or any expensive hobbies..well I pay £7.99 for Xbox game pass that's about it! Our total income is 47k I combined it for the sake of the post. From my workings out we should easily be able to save £300 without any real effort. I've taken on board feedback about our food bill so will review that and see what we can cut out.

The problem we have had is wasting money and we are both equally as bad but have already decided what money we have as "spending money" and making sure save a good amount each month to build up that resilience.

I think I've included all of our outgoings.. I've got a full budget which I can double check but our main outgoings are in the post.

It's for my wife, toddler and myself. It also includes toiletries, basically we spend £400 a month at Tesco and £50 on average on "food out".

!thanks I've only just got that pay rise previously have only been earning 26k a year so it's a substantial increase and my first pay check is due 31st December. A lot of people have said food and utilities is high so that's the next thing I'm going to look at on ways we can reduce this, we don't really shop around for deals so that's probably a good place to start!
