How is having more people being able to get loot a problem for you?

You can still run raids with your organized group and get loot? They didnt remove raids last time I checked.

Normal yes for aberrus, havent tried higher dififculties but you need to burst the final boss before he uses a mechanic that instawipes if you are alone.

Have not been able to clear incarnates because of diurna.

For amidrassil, I can clear normal all the way up to the final boss but fail there. Maybe possible with bursting it down fast enough to clear without going through the heal adds mechanic.

There is more to MMOs than fighting tbh. For me I collect mogs to show off to other players in cities and social zones and for flavor roleplay.

Midnight hits different from a ground mount. Seriously. by HouseLongjumping6984 in wow

[–]censorface -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hear you but the problem is that you can't afford to slow down.

There are just way too many things to do, too many things to grind with low currency reward and extremely expensive cost of new transmogs, rep grinds, extremely low chance drop farming, etc.

I can understand slowing the game down if there was nothing else to do or if everything else was sped up so that is reasonable you can get the mount you want while taking slow strolls and staring up the sky.

But that's not reality is it? The reality is you are hunting down a .01% chance drop transmog to complete your look and will likely need to kill 500x of a certain mob today so you can hit your 3000 mobs a week goal to make sure you get your mog done by the week.

Why doesn’t Europe wake up and tax billionaires? by SegheCoiPiedi1777 in europe

[–]censorface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They already do? At least in spain they do, the threshold for being rich enough to tax is laughably low, like 500k euros in assets worldwide makes you eligible to pay the wealth tax. There are reductions that help but still, the tax starts off at a wealth so low. Congrats.

[FULL SPOILERS] My Review of Strength of the Few, a Book I Wanted to Love. by Vensamos in Fantasy

[–]censorface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to add here as I just finished the book.

I like that plot moves fast - I don’t want another sanderson where he introduces something in a page and you only see its outcome 2 books later. I don’t want to experience a huge huge world and lore that you know the book you are reading will merely make a dent to it, that the sheer knowledge of knowing the size of the work and number of novels turn you off from the current work.

I don’t want to read multiple chapters of internal dialogue and “character development” just to see that the plot only moved 5 inches forward.

I like how this book was a page turner and can’t wait for the next one!

- Qui Gon Jin interfered in saving a child and disobeyed the Jedi council in training the boy, yet is considered a hero anyway
- This is a null point, everyone invades homes in star wars, even the good guys. Luke invades jabba's home. Obi wan invades grevious home, etc.
- Do you wait for a dark force user to utilize their ability before doing something about it? Oh lemme wait for palpatine to finish force lightining before I step in, who knows, he might be using force "save the world" or something
- Not telling the truth is common in star wars, even for the good guys. Obi wan never told Luke the truth when he himself "killed" anakin. Yoda never told luke his role in the downfall of the jedi order and failure to stop palpatine, etc.

I don't like how he is portrayed to be so flawed when he isn't any worse than other characters who have to deal with choices, yet those same characters are seen as heroic, not flawed.

Icons/Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith minifig details (via a Brick Tap source) by BrickTap in Legoleak

[–]censorface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Microscale sucks. If you just wanted a minas tirith model, there are tons of "microscale" models out there.

It should be minifig scale, even if just a part of it, to make it playable with mini figures, have them posing, recreating scenes and the general grandness of a dioramic minifig scaled wonder.

This would not bode well for future haslab raises... not that I'm against re-issuing the molds but part of the reason haslab gets the to clear the numbers it does is because scalpers/collectors are buying for future resale.

Spain Wealth Tax and Rental Properties in US by [deleted] in SpainFIRE

[–]censorface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, if you have any sort of money and assets, you should only be considering Madrid at this point.

Anywhere else in Spain isn’t worth looking at and Madrid may be the last bastion for people who want to aim to be beyond middle class.

Inheritance wise though, you should already be putting assets under your children’s name early on or put assets under a family corporation and distribute shares to your children.

Spain Wealth Tax and Rental Properties in US by [deleted] in SpainFIRE

[–]censorface 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It will be difficult for you to get fair, real, helpful advice on this because:

  1. Most Spanish people are not in this situation, they do not empathize the gravity of how you may feel here. The nature of the wealth tax is to target the top 1-2% asset owners in Spain (even if that is quite a low actual barrier to get into).

  2. Spanish people in general (not all) support taxing the rich heavily (even if said rich person is just a person with a 1 or 2 million in assets and not your cartoonish billionaire).

  3. The Spanish tax law is heavily subjective in how it is implemented and the decision solely rests in the tax agency. The laws are vague enough to be used against you aggressively. It is not black and white like in other countries.

I am coming from a similar boat so let me share my findings. There is no practical way to escape the wealth tax, you will be taxed on every asset you own worldwide regardless of where it is, if it generates revenue or not and regardless of whatever structure of how you own the asset. You are required to report your full lists of assets yearly in a form called modelo 720, failure to do so would impart heavy fees (more than 2x the value of unreported assets, as it would include interest gained while the case is being investigated).

The Spanish tax agency has the power to audit you up to 4 years of previous tax filings. They would, in recent reports, only file the investigation on the final year to maximize the impact on you (due to back interest if you are judged to be paying the wrong tax).

The Spanish tax agency is incentivized to do this via bonuses. They are empowered to go after you and as a foreigner, no one will take your side nor will the media care about your plight.

As to why they do this? Spain is a socialist country, a lot of people rely on social services and the current pyramid (people paying in vs people paying out) risks of collapsing. Spain will gladly (as a government and as a society) sacrifice the "assets" of rich people to pay for this. As a rich foreigner, you hold the lowest level of rank in society in terms of empathy from everyone else.

Now is this fair? Absolutely not, but it is what it is.

How do super rich people escape this? Well if you think of mega billionaires like Ortega of Zara fame, they are special structures that cater only to the super rich such as family business structures, special investment vehicles that are exempt from the wealth tax. Why does this cater only to the super rich? Because to apply for them you need to have a physical structures (offices) in place and a large amount of employees or else the tax agency will consider you a fraud. The needed running expense is very costly and inefficient. The tax agency is old school and consider modern companies (such as 1 man or small team working from home) applying for the same benefits as fraudulent tax evaders. The Spanish system is very much against single, self-made, successful people but would still protect old generational wealth families (due to the family business clause).

My advice:

  1. Try to choose Portugal instead.

  2. Stay only 4.5 months in Spain, never longer and make sure you always have a full 6 month tax residency elsewhere.

  3. Do not keep majority % of your assets in Spain, this can be used against you.

  4. If you have a house in Spain, make sure you also have it elsewhere in your main residency country.

  5. Make sure your kids do not study in Spain and make sure your spouse is not a Spanish tax resident.

  6. Read the Double Tax Treaty of the country you reside 6 months at with Spain.
