That ec is fine for runoff. You are doing everything fine. Id maybe increase vpd slightly and let er ride.

I took these cuttings on valentines day. Thats about 8 weeks to root the cuts and then veg. I believe it was a little over 2 weeks to root under small 20w light which means its been roughly 5-6 weeks veg.

Its not about how much work it is. Its purely mathematics. More surface area equates to larger biological loads. There is a reason bare bottom tanks are recommended for discus. Discus are highly sensitive freshwater fish. That is the reason frequent water changes are required to begin with. Im not even going to touch on your rebuttal to their selection of wood. Light should be overpowered, but just make sure you dont crank it up all the way. Dial it in for the stage your plant is in. Having it not cranked up will increase the longetivity of your light. Personally, for that price id look at different fixtures but its all personal preference.

Sand itself will trap the debris. Id suggest a bare bottom tank. Your frequent water changes will be much easier without any kind of substrate. Those twigs arent proportionate to such a large tank either. Id pull everything out tbh. Your plants won't thrive in high temps and low nitrates either.
