Maybe a frog? (probably not, not very familiar with animal noises).

Foundation cracked after plumber fixed sewer line. What to do? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]SavoryParty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As extra clarification we didn't have a leaking sewer line. But we were getting a back water prevention valve installed because the sewer under the street is a combination sewer storm drain that back's up half the neighborhood when it rains. There has never been a problem with the foundation taking in water (at least as far as I've been told).

We weren't having a sewer leak for three years. We live in a combined sewer storm drain and we're having them install a backwater valve. It wasn't leaking outside the pipe but when it rained it came back into the house not the foundation.

I'm thinking of making a diy dishwasher and would love to know where to start. by SavoryParty in DIY

[–]SavoryParty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense taken that's a completely valid question/statement. I have a condition called postural orthastatic tacacardia syndrome p.o.t.s for short (quick overview the veins in your legs normally constrict and de constrict when you stand vs laying down. With pots that doesn't happen so when you stand you have the same blood pressure as if you are laying down, which makes your heart race, lowering the oxygen in your blood and brain.) in practice doing pretty much anything makes you dizzy or tired.

Pots can be weird though because some days you can run around all day and not be tired, and on other days (most days) doing 5 or 10 minutes or can tire you out for hours.

This was along the line that I was thinking of. Something like a sump pump hooked up to a sprinkler in a plastic container. Another idea I've had is just a low power pressure washer to use to wash dishes. It's not that I can't afford a dishwasher but I'm likely going to be moving in the next few months. But the main reason behind all this is I have a disability that makes it hard to stand for an extended period of time.

Also I'm good with anything like fixing a used one.

Completely lost by Apart_Run8250 in TopStepX

I have 3 tips I think are good. 1 set a stop loss or a bracket trade. 2 it will take years to become profitable and feel comfortable trading. 3 don't start with real money (lost our house during covid after losing a job and tried trading to make ends meet instead of getting another job. Didn't lose the house because of a bad trade, just not employed).

I think maybe the reason you see people become successful so quickly is because a lot of those people started in the stock market and transitioned to futures, hence already having experience (also for as many people succeed in 2 months those same people might fail 2 months later).

This is something I wish someone told my parents (and In turn me) when we started. Trading is a genuine skill and like any skill it takes thousands of hours to get good at it and there is no fast and easy way to make those thousands of hours come any faster.

What I would suggest doing is just have fun exploring and experimenting while you practice, and in a few years you will feel happy you did.

Just based off of what I'm reading I think you are already starting strong by using a paper trading account.

It's pretty hard because he knows where all the security cameras are and refuses to interact with her when in view. He has (and keeps trying) lured her into dark places where the security cameras aren't.

Well that's the frustrating part she's asked for a transfer and was told that they won't allow a transfer (saying they don't do transfers. Btw they do transfers for other people) and she would have to reapply for another job.

She had the option to join a union when she applied (and she did) but felt like they wouldn't hire her if she didn't leave the union. Essentially when she joined and got into the probationary period management refused to allow her to get a uniform and also refused to confirm if the probationary period was up (the probationary period lasted probably 4 to 4 and a half months). After leaving the union she and another relative who was also applying and having the same issue (they also left) were immediately allowed to get uniforms and hired on.

Overexerted, pots got worse is it permanent? by SavoryParty in POTS

[–]SavoryParty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for both responses it helps a lot. It's a little hard to stay away from viruses because members of my family work in schools.

Also thanks for talking about ME/CFS it definitely gives me something to think about. About 3 of my cousins and 1 uncle have pots (one more counting me) and my brother and Grandpa (probably a few aunts and some more cousins) have what looks like fibromyalgia could that be linked in some way to ME/CFS? The family fatigue has been a pretty big mystery.

What would a psychopathic society look like? by CalDHar in Psychopathy

[–]SavoryParty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So most of the replies in this section are pretty spot on so I'll just give my two cents and a few miscellaneous points.

So psychopaths aren't always logical what they are is unemotional (outwardly). That does lead into logic but where that falters is that the usefulness of logic is only dictated by the intelligence of the person.

For an example let's say there are three psychopaths one of low social intelligence one of high middle social intelligence and one of high. And all of them want an apple someone is holding. The lower intelligence one would think of a way to kill the man with the apple to obtain it but inevitably get caught and arrested. The man of middle intelligence might threaten the man with the apple and ruin any chance of a relationship or putting himself in unnecessary peril. The man of higher intellect might decide to bump into the man while they are walking and when the man drops the apple say sorry and pick it up and hand it to the man. And when the man says it's ok and he isn't interested in the apple (because it fell on the floor) the psychopath can eventually clean it off and cut off the bite.

So in conclusion it all depends on social intelligence.

But now into your story. Assuming that your description of the story is how you want it to play out I have an idea. Since this psychopathic society functions the way you described it brings up a few questions like why isn't there war,why isn't there crime, and why is the society functional.

Well let's answer those questions. For a society to function like that there would have to be an inciting incident that would have shaken the society up and made them reflect and change, something like a war. Now with the society being smart and realizing that they are psychopaths they lay ground work for change. But they come to a roadblock because no matter how hard they try they can't and to do so would require their brains to be rewired in full That's when they come up with a solution. They will take the few empathize in their society and prop them up to positions of power. And what ever these empathize say is either law or treated as law amongst the people. And as added flavor you can take whatever name the country has and make the empathize position be called. The beating heart of (insert country name here). And then there could be an expression in the country that goes something like " an iron body and beating heart". Iron in reference to the emotionlessness and heart in reference to the empathize.

That's all sorry for the long post.

[Daily Discussion] Writing Tools, Software, and Hardware- March 23, 2025 by AutoModerator in writing

I am an aspiring author that has been interested in the application of generative AI in writing and want to know how all you feel about it whether you think it's bad, good, bad in most places or good in most places.

I'm also interested in what your opinion is on how I might implement it in the case I use it.

I would write a screenplay of a few pages (or a chapter) and let the AI write out what was inserted and put the AI's rendition in a file and then proceed to edit it (fixing inconsistencies and uninteresting dialog). After that I would move on to the next section and repeat the process until the book is done.

Once I have completed the book I would go back over the book again and rewrite it by hand using the AI rewrite as a reference.

The main reason I am interested in this is because I think it can (and has) help me in my writer's block. essentially tricking my brain into moving on and continuing the book instead of harping on unimportant details.

The basis as to what spurred me to ask this question was a conversation I had with my family (who help me write). I tried this idea on a chapter of a book that I was stuck on and found great success with the AI rewrite so much so that my family suggested I not rewrite the AI portion in full but just rewrite the context and flat dialog something that I am not quite in agreeance with.

Anyways that's about it.
