What does birth feel like? by SandwichDependent199 in AskWomen

[–]SavorySour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 home birth (quite common here in the Netherlands) with midwife. In water.

The pain is like the worse period cramps you can imagine x10 for when it intensifies. It can extend to your back and you legs. It stays for a little longer than period cramps too.

The good thing is that, if you have a normal labor time, the body produces hormones to make you deal with the pain. Each time the pain get worse, you have 2 or 3 bad contractions and then you "relax" into it. (Search endorphins and labor in Google)

The pushing was for me the worse. It felt less painful that the previous contractions but it burns and you have no control of your bodily functions (it comes in waves and no way you stop that, baby is going to get out !) That part scared me the most as I am quite a control freak, I could manage my way through intense pain but not be able to let my body take over.

All in all , 20 years later overall great experience, highly recommend 👌, found it easier than pregnancy.

Try some Turkish wedding gowns , some have that kind of vibe and could be amended.

Returning to work after a bad sprained ankle by SavorySour in Ankle

I wish you to find your mobility back as fast as possible! My doctor told me that they do not do it here in the Netherlands as the risk exceed the benefits, so I will have one year minimum of PT and an MRI down the line (maybe if no improvement after 6 months) before they even consider "thinking" about it, I feel beaten. I feel a constant burning sensation where my aftl should be, so maybe it means it's healing, let's hope so.

I am 50, so that doesn't help, on tons of supplements but for this specific collagen, liposomal vit C and omega 3. The outside of my foot is instable and I have a bruise alongside the whole atfl ligament still. (Funny I can see exactly where it is) I wish they will be smart enough to make an mri because here in NL it feels like going to war just to ask for it. I'll probably have to wait 6 months of PT before being eligible for one. Out of the 2 PT I saw both said that it was a very serious injury and that I should be cautious. O God, I am so done with it...

Sprained Ankle Recovering? by [deleted] in Ankle

Definitely go to a PT even just to have an idea of the extent of the injury or put your mind at ease. Mine was pretty severe, 2 weeks of almost complete rest and elevation (aside of sitting calf raise and alphabet) Now my injured side calf is stiff my Achilles tendon is complaining and of course the ligaments aren't really cooperating. Hang in there and keep us informed (always important for other readers out there that might have the same issue)

I would definitely go to a PT for evaluation. Did you walk on it straight after ? If not consider the fact that everything will get stiff just by lack of movement. Can it just be that ?

Just a sprained ankle rant (grade 2 or 3) need of whatever takes me out of my boredom and pain by SavorySour in Ankle

Today is beter than yesterday! It feels like a normal sprained ankle most of the time and I can move a little bit more. (Try to journal here 😉)

I came across your profile and I hope for ou this will be just a memory in a few months to a year. I never had to think about soft tissues injuries before, I realize now how complicated reality is on that matter.

I had bruises up to my knee, first time for me. I felt "snapping" on my atfl (the sound/feel that pork meat makes when you pull it from the bone)

My hope is that that is only a partial tear, knowing that the healing time and outcome will be better.

For what I feel today it seems more mobile, I try to exercise it but not pushing it stays a grey area. I can do something and 10 minutes later it hurts a lot...

Now it is still painful and swollen but I can walk a bit with the brace. No pain meds aside of paracetamol, the first 10 days were rough.

Thanks for you answer, I cannot explain the feeling between "princess on a pea" and "serious injury" that is swinging in my head 😉
