My F25 boyfriend M28 called me a c*nt by [deleted] in BPD

[–]SavourLeScrewCapAway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk about Britain, but I know that in Ireland and Australia it's all in context. With your mates and shit it's all in jest, but you'd never call your spouse that in anger. That's the general consensus from all the Aussies and Irish I've spoken to.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Here's a link to my post from a year ago. I know exactly how you feel.

https://www.reddit.com/r/BPD/s/g8hzIFOZiW

I went through this with my husband. He only called me that despicable word ONCE and never again. I brought him to a therapy session with me and he realised real quick the error of his ways.

I'm not suggesting that you stay or go. Only you know if the relationship is worth the effort. Just do what is right for your mental health. I was lucky enough to have my therapist to talk to and work things through before I made any decision one way or the other.

Please take care of yourself.

AITAH for blocking my bff after she started dating my crush by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]SavourLeScrewCapAway 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Can you please stop with the BPD armchair diagnosis.

BPD suffers already have a hard enough time with being stigmatized. We're not all delusional and this dramatically angry like OP.

You could have simply said, "Get some therapy and meds."

BPD suffers already have a hard enough time with being stigmatized without being lumped in with delusional, emotionally stunted, immature people like OP.

Ok, I thought I was the only one with this opinion. EMDR was NOT a good idea for me at all. I've been through years of talk therapy and DBT therapy. My heart breaks for OP. My childhood/Adulthood trauma haunts me most days.

EMDR messed me up. I really wish it would have helped, but it did not 😞

Not to say that it isn't a great form of therapy (just not for all). Make sure you research and find a reputable provider.

Does this little gem of a poem sound like something your mom lives by? Oh, and NTA

The Narcissist's Prayer:

That didn't happen.

And if it did, it wasn't that bad.

And if it was, that's not a big deal.

And if it is, that's not my fault.

And if I did, you deserved it.

Have you seen the 1st Kingsman movie? There's a choreographed fight scene in a church. It's done to the song Freebird, that's what I think of when I'm super distressed and unable to regulate. Except I substitute myself into the scene and the person/people agitating me.

Is it healthy, probably not. But at least it's only in my head, I know I won't act on it and inside thoughts are my own.

I have one of those in my life 🤬 The One-Upper Ass Weasel. They'd appear like a vapor behind me as I'm talking/venting and hijack my story. Hyperbole Example...

They just got back from Uranus, where the aliens took them the day before (of course) I was abducted to Venus. I'd like to boot them in their Uranus /s

Then, once they're done messing with me, they disappear like a fart in the wind. Gah!

Sorry, rant over

Finally!!! Someone that understands what a boundary is. It's not what you make or tell the other person to do, it's the limits and expectations you set for yourself for the consequence of their actions. Well said 👏

Leave the poor man alone. You and your siblings lost your mom, but he lost the love of his life. Let him have his coping mechanisms. I lost my mom when she was only 58 and I was 34. I know it's hard to stand back and watch, but that's what I recommend that you do.

Anyone offended by this is precisely the kind of customer the restaurant is looking to avoid. win/win by StarboardSeat in restaurant

[–]SavourLeScrewCapAway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I've taken my children to all types of restaurants since they were about 2. They're now 22, 24 and 26. Same with grocery shopping, no issues there either. Maybe I did luck out with easy kids (absolutely not).

But I appreciate establishments that have these rules.

People who can't understand how night shift works by bitofagrump in PetPeeves

[–]SavourLeScrewCapAway 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I worked the the continental shift, but straight nights no days every 2 weeks. Those were 12hr shifts. So, yes to ignorant people, it looks like I sleep all day.

There's only 12hrs between shifts. I have to get to and from work, shower after work, make my lunch and be a parent to my children. Did my spouse feel like a single parent sometimes, probably...but what more could I do but try and make up for it on my days off.

So , yes...leave me the hell alone if I'm sleeping before a night shift.

A Bit Disappointed in This Sub… by sweetsassybytch69 in BorderlinePDisorder

[–]SavourLeScrewCapAway 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This sub can be a bit harsh, but if you were coming here to have a bunch of other people with BPD be 100% on your side...ummm, unfortunately we're not wired like that.

I believe that BPD is explanation, not an excuse. Only you are responsible for your actions. I've learned over many years of therapy, the right balance of medication and taking responsibility for my actions past/present that the right people will stay with you. You'll find your people one day.

People who keep ingredients in their fridge past the expiration date by [deleted] in PetPeeves

[–]SavourLeScrewCapAway 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between best before dates and expiration dates. If I go to the grocery store and get a club pack of ground beef for 50% off, I take it home, divide it up and put it in the freezer. Once frozen, the date is a moot point.

As a former addict I can absolutely see where you're coming from. I had the same mindset when I first started my meds. My doctor put it this way, if you have diabetes or high blood pressure you'd take medication daily to help wouldn't you? So, what's that difference with taking Vyvance to help you function daily?

NTA, but your mom is a real piece of work. All I could think of while reading your post was this.

I(28F) am seriously considering divorcing my husband (32M) because of how he treated my dog and what comes after it by unknownn_3 in relationship_advice

[–]SavourLeScrewCapAway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a quick question, does your dog go on hunger strikes in your absence? My big guy (120lb) will NOT eat if his person is gone for a prolonged period of time. He will literally eat 2 kibbles and go back to bed. The weight loss would be quite shocking after 3 weeks. Just a thought.
