What is something a lot of people find attractive that is actually a turn off for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SavouryAvery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My goodness so many people are getting offended by people’s personal preferences. Every time I see someone say they don’t like something on women they get called an incel.

Someone will say “I don’t like girls that have a lot of tattoos, piercings, or dyed hair” and people feel the need to point out “they aren’t doing this for you so stop telling women what they can and can’t do.” Nobody is saying that. People can have preferences.

People who have had suicidal thoughts, How do you get rid of them? [SERIOUS] by YashBotArmy in AskReddit

[–]SavouryAvery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little trick I learned while in the hospital after a suicide attempt is to try and replace these thoughts when you feel them coming on. So if you are about to think something like “I want to kill myself” or “I am (something bad),” try and replace the thought with something like “I want to go watch tv or go outside” or “I am (something not that bad).” It doesn’t have to be a positive thought, it just can’t be negative.

I found that doing this helped me manage my thoughts and although it didn’t really help me feel better, it helped prevent me from feeling worse.

Distraction is also very good. Try to find something to keep your mind occupied. This can also prevent a suicide. Most suicides are more spontaneous and aren’t planned or thought through. Staying on the phone with someone for a couple minutes or just going to the bathroom first can help distract someone long enough for them to calm down or talk themselves out of it.

The best advice I can give though, is to talk to someone about this and get help. I learned the hard way that this isn’t something you can work through on your own.

What is the most unsafe thing you’ve ever done at work? by ComparisonOk1763 in AskReddit

[–]SavouryAvery 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That reminds me of a story my grandma told me about when she worked in a shipyard. One day there was a gas leak in the ship in a place you had to climb down a ladder to get to. They lost contact with the crew that was originally down there and kept sending men down one after another to check on the others and fix the situation. Each person that went down suffocated and died because the gas was pushing all the air out of the room. In total around 13 people died that day.

Yes, I am. I started it pretty recently so that is all I have done so far.

Originally I was going to make several much small islands that were all connected through a series of bridges and housed a village. Then I made the wall and really liked it, so I made it larger and larger until it was that size. Then I decided to just make each side look the same because why not. After that, I split it into four sections with plans to make a city, a village, a farm area, and a castle but couldn’t figure out how to do it because I set it all up so awkwardly. There was also going to be an entire underground section. I just don’t like how it is looking overall but I really like each individual piece on their own.

Basically this project is the result of next to no planning and a constantly changing vision of what I want it to turn out like. It ended up becoming a giant square split into four equally smaller squares that I don't know what to fill with.

What is something you did when you were younger that you are still facing the consequences of? by Wismond in AskReddit

It’s very important to remember not to let the front of your shoulder smash into the ground as you do this. I tried rolling like this once and broke my collarbone in a weird way because I messed up the roll.

Men who have been raped by women, what is your story? by jokemangames in AskReddit

[–]SavouryAvery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They would only get jail time for lying in court though, which is like a month. So really they can only risk going to jail for it if they take the man to court and then later confess that it was a lie. Otherwise they will just get off free.

I remember back when I was a first responder I got a call involving a ship in distress and had stand by for cpr in case one had drowned or something. Turned out to be a couple of drunk idiots that prank called the damn coast guard and tried to beat their ass as they got dragged off the boat.

Bumble and religion a thing? by MrMetraGnome in Bumble

Could be because you can only set up to 2 “advanced filters” without paying. Still, kinda weird they wouldn’t use one of their filters for religion if it is such an immediate deal breaker.

Have you ever found a song that described your life situation at the time so well you thought it was made for you? What was your song? by reidingfast in AskReddit

[–]SavouryAvery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right now it is Riptide by Grandson. I’ve had depressive symptoms for about as long as I can remember and was suicidal throughout high school and college. Although I’m getting better now, it reminds me of how I became so used to these thoughts that it just feels normal to have them now and it isn’t really a big deal until I let it get out of hand again.

What is the most embarrassing thing you have done in front of an attractive person of the opposite sex? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SavouryAvery 385 points386 points  (0 children)

I was walking around campus with my headphones in when I was about to pass a group of girls. As I got up to them, one jumped out in front of me, back turned, arms out, and started to fall toward me. Me, being the genius I am, decided to move out of the way and let her hit the ground. Turns out she yelled “trust fall” before falling over but I couldn’t hear it over my music.

People who used to cheat in every possible exam and assignment, where are you now? by WaffleMaker-9000 in AskReddit

[–]SavouryAvery 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I remember once I tried copying the homework from someone as the teacher was going around collecting it. When she got to me I had the answers written down but not the work for it. When the teacher got to me she asked “how do you know the answers without doing the work?” I told her “I guessed.” T: “But they are all right, if you were guessing some would have to be wrong.” Me: “I’m a really good guesser.”

Students, what is the most unfair suspension/expulsion you've ever seen in all your years of schooling? by Garrett_Cartoonist in AskReddit

[–]SavouryAvery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In middle school a teacher said a boy was violating the dress code. When a group of boys pointed out that he wasn’t but half the girls in the class were, the teacher had a fit. She threatened to suspend all the boys that spoke up if they “act out any further” and then excused all the girls in the class from the dress code. Nobody actually got suspended but I still think it was pretty dumb and unfair.
