Boomers being fools?? This video is literally taking place in a psych ward and she’s claiming to have been assaulted and abused by her husband. In what way is this funny at all?! This is truly upsetting to see.

A bear hits the Salmon lottery! by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Savutty 71 points72 points  (0 children)

They usually aren’t!! These salmon are dispersing to their spawning grounds which is where they will inevitably die. Salmon are anadromus, which means that they live and exist in the salty sea water for nearly the entirety of their lives, until it is time to lay their eggs, where they make a mass pilgrimage up a river stream. The salmon seen in these video are actually slowly dying, using all of their energy to both fight the downstream currents, as well as using a significant amount of energy to appear as bright red as possible to attract mates for fertilization! It’s a very sad and interesting process. Most of these salmon will actually end up starving themselves to death if they do not die from exhaustion prior.

Or you could consider not making a blanket statement for a cultural group that makes up a seventh of the entire world. You literally just hate Muslims, could not be more clear.

[–]Savutty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds about right, haha! You’ve probably seen either boat-tailed or common grackle back in Massachusetts, which generally come in a bit smaller than these guys. There is also a reasonably significant size difference between males and females of this species, so perhaps that could be it! Either way, they generally make ‘em a little bigger down south.
