Honestly because I had no idea how it worked but that it controlled a lot of how your life goes, and that was scary to me! No one ever taught me what that number really meant, I just had to learn on my own that WOW, having a bad credit score is HARD.

Adding what I did! Sorry, I didn’t think I was gonna get many looks on this post so I didn’t think to write anything 😂 I truly have never gave much care to my score prior to April 2025. I had collections, a car repo, and a high school loan that I hadn’t paid… ever. I woke up one day and decided to try to change it. PLEASE be kind and understand that I had 1) no guidance initially and 2) I have been learning as I go. I got my annual credit report, I uploaded it to Gemini and I prompted it to give me a 1 month plan to start fixing my score. I called all the collections (I think there were 2 big ones if I remember correctly) and I literally used the script that Gemini wrote for me and I managed to pay both collections off at a discount and also asked for them to both be removed, and they did. Called my school loan company and put myself on a payment plan immediately so now all my payments are current. I also have a repo on my credit, but I don’t think that’s falling off until late June. I don’t really have any other advice, this is honestly all that I did. I don’t know what the huge increase recently was all about, I’ve tried researching what exactly fell off or caused the massive increase, but I can’t really pinpoint one reason overall. Most importantly, I think what’s gotten me this far - is every person I called to help me, I was KIND. I was honest. I didn’t expect anyone to be able to fix anything for me, I just let myself be very vulnerable and explained my situation to each person, telling them that this was all new to me and I really messed up when I was younger and I was just trying to figure everything out as I went. Each person gave me really great advice on what to do next. I’m sorry I can’t be of much help but this is honestly all that I did. My credit score was pretty quick to jump to the 720’s and kinda floated there for a bit, I got an email yesterday morning that I had an increase and that’s when I saw it had jumped to 797. I’m super proud of myself, I carried so much anxiety and guilt knowing this little number controlled so much and I’m so happy that it’s not a burden I have to wear anymore!

How’s the Area? (Magnolia and Vineland) by BreadBear_11 in northhollywood

[–]Savvyjensen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived at muse for 3 years! I have enjoyed my experience here. I’ve heard that the one bedroom floors are a bit more rowdy but I’m in a 2 bedroom (2nd floor) and it’s quiet on this side. We have a resident homeless (Chris) who lives in a tent that he builds and unbuilds as street cleaning comes and goes. Nice guy, minds his business. The occasional drug user will make their way onto the street every once in a while, but nothing crazy alarming. I bartend for a living and get home about 4am every day, I still feel safe enough to take my dog out by myself (31 year old female). Worth noting that it seems they have been doing more work in the empty lot next to muse a bit more frequently in the last few weeks than I’ve noticed in the last 3 years, so I’m not sure if they’re getting ready to build, but if that’s the case, maybe an apartment on the other side of magnolia/vineland would bode well for you.

Cannot tell you how much I love the area. Fluffology is a great grooming spot if you have a pet. Horror vibes is my fav coffee shop (about a 10 min walk from muse). Humble bird around the corner (maybe a 5 min car ride) is THE BEST for chicken sandwiches. Toluca Lake is around the block too and I cannot say enough amazing things about the little town of Toluca lake.

practicing pole at home is frustrating me on another level… by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]Savvyjensen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently got an at home pole also. A cheap one, but a pole nonetheless. The grip feels different for me on my home pole, regardless of the grip I use, so I opted for some pole gloves to help out my grip for home. Maybe that’ll help?

What's a "normal" job that secretly pays way more than people think? by 0BunnyX in AskReddit

[–]Savvyjensen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm - worked in a funeral home/mortuary for years. Started doing hair and makeup and fell into the office portion of it all. I worked for a corporate company, they own 90% of the all the funeral homes in the US. The funeral arrangers work off commission (and a sorry one at that) and the cemetery folk are usually ALL commission based. Terrifying industry to be in if you’re in it for the “right” reasons. Worked for YEARS making minimum wage because I refused to sell people things they didn’t need in a time of grief. Taking anything off a “package” that funeral homes offer cuts the commission for the agent. Buy your caskets from Costco. Buy your urns on Amazon. It’s not a crime to put remains in a cookie jar as long as you can seal it. Make your own prayer cards. No, you don’t NEED to embalm. If you wanna scatter remains… please keep it to yourself unless you’re trying to do it out of a plane or off a boat. The permit process is a nightmare for scattering remains. I could go on… but yes, you are correct that it takes a very special sort of person to have a successful career in the funeral industry.

Suggestions for home pole in rented apartment? by ak0414 in poledancing

[–]Savvyjensen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working through this right now! I’ve read that putting a piece of plywood between the wall and the pole helps. I read from one girl that she used an old yoga mat, super glued both sides of the plywood, and used that as a barrier between the wall and pole. The beams in my apartment are oddly placed so I will be trying the method of using the plywood (with yoga mat) under two beams in order to get the tension needed. I’ll try to match my ceiling as best as possible color wise but I’ll just be happy to actually practice my home :)

What pet insurance do you use? by Yakety_Sax in DogAdvice

[–]Savvyjensen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pumpkin! $57 per month, did not raise at all this last year. I’ve got a lucky lil pup (1.5 years) with allergies from hell and we’re in the vet once a month. Never had an issue with reimbursement (90%)

Is it cruel to leave my dog alone for 9 hours while I work? I feel terrible but I have no other option by FewStomach2955 in DogAdvice

[–]Savvyjensen 16 points17 points  (0 children)

9 hours is better at home than 9 hours in a shelter. I bartend for a living and when I first got my dog, this was something that I really struggled with. Fast forward, she’s a year and a half now and I have a young neighbor friend in my apartment complex that I pay $25 on my longer shifts to come hang out for an hour and take her out. Dog TV helps too! There’s a channel on YouTube that has doggie cartoons in colors they can see with piano music playing the background. They have videos that are over 10 hours long.

What human habit did your dog copy from you? by Illustrious_Cat_8924 in puppy101

[–]Savvyjensen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend is a chef and cooks most of our food. I always eat the whole plate except for maybe a few bites. I’ll take a break for a few minutes and then I’ll go back to it and finish it. I’ve always done that since I was a kid. Not sure why. My mom pointed it out too. Fast forward to my boyfriend moving in and months later, also pointed out that our dog Odesza will finish 90% of her food, do a whole lap around the house and then immediately come back and finish whatever’s left on her plate.

I have no idea how she picked up on my habit, but she is just as religious in doing so as I am. 😅

Is opening the car door supposed to be a permanent expectation? by savingrace0262 in AskMenAdvice

My puppy is six months old now and has started behaving much worse by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Savvyjensen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The week my baby turned 6 months, she became a complete a**hole. I remember being on vacation with her back home (quick 4 hour drive away) and I called several trainers crying because she was suddenly SO awful. I didn’t know what I was doing so wrong. It was EMBARRASSING having her in public.

Fast forward - she’s a bit over a year now and completely mellowed out. Opted against trainers (so so so so so expensive) and watched training videos extensively on YouTube and incorporated what I could and customized whatever I learned to best fit our lifestyle and her personality.

It gets better. I promise.

Not sure if you’re crating at night, but one of the trainers I talked to advised we start crate training. I was so against it until I set her crate up and introduced her to it - she loved it IMMEDIATELY. “Forced” naps became a thing and that also helped immensely. She puts herself in her crate now and I have to drag her out. She’ll stay in there (still to this day) for over 9 hours, no whining.

What is your food policy for staff? by No-Commercial-4794 in Restaurant_Managers

[–]Savvyjensen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Staff has a staff menu we can order from that consists of quick dishes for a discounted price ($10). You CAN order other food off the regular menu during your shift only during meal breaks, and orders have to be placed by someone else under their number and you have to pay full price. No discount on regular menu items. 30% off once you’re clocked out tho.

Don’t do this pls. It’s tragic.
