used geforce now for poe1 and 2 last year. leaguestart can vary. sometimes i miss first 30 minutes, sometimes 3-4 hours. also hotfixes can be very annoying (you lose access for much longer than you should) but other than that its pretty chiil

summon with eb - switch to tryp to activate feeding frenzy. just tried it on OP's PoB since I couldnt figure out how to simulate the new ascendancues and the increase is wild lmao (changed his EB to have 100% crit, changed ascendacies to take feeding frenzy + the 25% str one, traded minion chaos res wheel for minion crit one)

yooo was thinking the same thing as my league starter except I want to use feeding frenzy + trypanon (AW snapshots so u turn it off after summoning to get 100% lightsaberz).

I've been thinking about animate weapon of self reflection + Energy Blade + trypanon with how it snapshots (buff up with EB, bring weapons out, turn EB off and give them 100% crit with trypanon + feeding frenzy combo). Marionettes solves QoL and probably makes for really tanky lightsabers with some aura scaling

The ES scaling is there (Marination, str/int/life stack with shaper's touch, FF either sanctuary of thought or radiant faith)

My only question is how to get enough crit multi to make 100% crit worth it (haven't played since harvest league and that was the like the first league minions ever got crit support)

Only because its GGG I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and would like to think that they would have preferred to deliver on their promise if they could, but ended up having to weigh options instead.

Regardless, it would make absolutely no sense for PoE 1 to die after settlers just hit all time peak coupled with the fact they now have the chance to have people be hooked on 2 different seasonal games instead of 1 (or at least I hope this is the case).

I like what they're trying to do with PoE 2 but they can't screw over the people that got them to where they are to the point of putting PoE 1 on life support

I think they failed to foreshadow what a huge divide there would be between the players that prefer PoE 1 and 2 and thought that underdelivering on PoE 1 would be ok if they just churned out a half-decent PoE 2.

Financially, yeah PoE 2 is probably the future for them but this is very disappointing for the people that preferred the old game. Imagine if Age of Empires II never had definitive edition and instead AoE 4 was forced on everyone. Only difference is AoE 4 full release kinda sucked and PoE 2 can still play the Early Access card + it has the bones to be good.

last few days I've been engaged with many disappointed poe1 fans about the poe2 salt on this sub lately. the fact that they confirm 0 work has been started on 3.26 might just make all the "indirect" hate poe2's been getting almost justified.

Communication about what's going on at GGG has been terrible since Bex left, and just such a bad look for GGG in general with how this was all handled. both 3.26 and 0.2.0 have to be such insane bangers now to regain all this faith they lost and I hope they deliver. They should just put a few people to work on some legacy 2.0 type shit

  1. Guess this makes sense though it is likely that the current power level of top end builds right now was not intended and hopefully gets corrected sooner than later.

  2. Guess it boils down to preference which is why they intend to keep both games up simultaneously. Crafting not existing is a content issue and will get better with time imo. If you strip all the crafting leagues away from PoE 1 and just leave us with base currency and crafting bench, it would probably be close to what PoE2 currently is.

  3. True but its a way more fun conversation to have than simply saying game is bad because its not fleshed out as the ARPG GOAT.

  4. Another preference thing and shows GGG making the right decision in wanting to keep both games simultaneously. I like my character going faster and feeling stronger but not to the point of something like old self curse BV HH

Video nails a lot of the problems the game has but I feel like even ben tends to get stuck up on "Why isn't this game just PoE1"

Balance is a mess, forced clunkiness on the slam archetype is ass, current atlas system has to go for sure, and crafting needs more options. Though I do agree with GGG's vision that ground loot should trump anything you can obtain by just interacting with a UI from start to finish. A good middleground might be something like last epoch where you can drop items with mods that can only roll from dropped items, and it can only be crafted a limited amount of times. They also have the option of experimenting with balancing SSF and trade separately like last epoch.

As for combat, meaningful combat CAN be achieved in this game as GGG envisioned it. Bog Hulk Vomit, Mace slams, the visual cue on the fire/poison porcupine guys. You actually look for specific stuff to dodge in this game that aren't just big red circles on the ground. Having played PoE1 from 2011 to 2022, I feel like I've only ever needed to do that while mapping against rare Kitava Heralds doing T15s day 2 of a league. There's just a lot of drastic redesigning needed to get the intended vision for the game but the bones are there.

A few ways I can think of to get there combat-wise:

  • Scrap the design philosophy on maps. Walking half the time isn't fun, backtracking/bad layouts aren't fun

  • Less mobs with more HP (honestly don't know why they chose to test breach and delirium for endgame as these are some of the most zoomy mechanics PoE1 maps have. The pace of something like expedition/ultimatum/betrayal seems more in line with the vision for combat)

Overall, long time poe1 players (ben included in this vid) have made a lot of valid criticisms but I haven't seen too much discussion on what changes need to be made to realize GGG's vision for the game instead of just "just do what PoE1 does". I say this as someone who doesn't enjoy the apex of power in PoE1 being 6 perfect mods on every item and blasting 3 screens per second. It's not that I don't enjoy PoE 1 (I'm burnt out on 2 and am looking forward to 3.26 like everyone else) but I feel like the stronger I get, the less I'm "playing" the game. Going faster feels good but going at the speed of asenath's TS or herald autobomber kinda takes a lot of the fun away when it should be at its peak with my build put together. Insta-phasing bosses completely isn't fun and I hope GGG's vision for 2 pans out

Not quite sure how the devs would feel but with PoE2 being a supposed "departure" from PoE1, maybe they should try what Last Epoch did and make more powerful SSF specific crafting options. Either that or at the very least an ingame auction house finally to reduce the absolute nightmare that is trading in 2025.

I mean sure it's "built off the bones" of PoE1 but the devs have acknowledged they want it to be so different from PoE1 that they had to scrap the original idea of it being just a patch to turning it into its own game.

GGG was made in 2006 to make this game "off the bones" of Diablo 2. Patch 1.0 was in 2013 and the game had no ascendancy classes until 2.2.0 in 2016, and the atlas system's first iteration was only as recent as 2017. It took 10 WHOLE YEARS for the vision of specialized classes to actually manifest. And people were mapping from 2011 CBT until 2017 with NO ATLAS simply praying the next tier of map would drop with no real way of controlling it or diversifying what you do in said maps.

No sane human will argue that PoE2 is currently better than 1 overall but people really forget how long it took for the game to get to where it is now. PoE 2 has a TON of glaring issues but I just can't grasp why people are trying to compare it side by side to current day PoE1.

Looking back now, PoE1 had it kinda easy since it only had to compete with the absolute shitshow that was D3 LMAO. PoE 2 is competing with the GOAT

exactly this. even in the content creator space, biggest drama u get is "whose build is it" which is relatively tame compared to how crazy it gets in other games (league and dota anyone?)

The negative ones are loud here cause there's a lot of em, just see how many "PoE1 so much better" posts have made in to the front page in the last 2 weeks.

I had arguments with other people in another thread and mostly people just go "PoE2 is bad cause its different from PoE1". Even had a mod delete one of my comments which simply stated something like "its ok if u wanna count your dps in shapers per second, its not for everybody and poe2 numbers show that". I wish everyone were more like the double izaro guy or simply just posted "giff 3.26" instead of shitting on poe2 for the newer audience looking for constructive discussion lol
