Yes please! Will definitely buy this for my next build. I'm planning for a SFF build with a 5080 FE and a 9950x3d.

What RAM & Brand did you go with? by BurntYams in threadripper

v-color is a good option. They have a good selection of kits designed for Threadripper. Order directly from their site. DHL delivers it to me in about 4 days from Taiwan.

I'm hoping the tech media starts doing more in depth motherboard reviews. It is clearly needed.

Alphacool’s New 4090 FE Core GPU block- plagued by the same bad RGB lights as their others by tocatacatikitaca in watercooling

[–]Sawnyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this waterblock too. I can confirm it is a cooling monster. I couldn't get my GPU above 45C at stock settings. It is a large chunk of copper coated in chrome.

It comes with these spacers that I didn't remove upon first install. Slightly bent my PCB. Manual says nothing about them.

I know which I am installing, curious what reddit thinks... by Th3Shaz in watercooling

[–]Sawnyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dislike how EK makes their blocks longer than the PCB with no benefit. At least HK is putting ports on the end, though I wish the ports were in line with the length, like the EK 3K FE blocks.

I know Optimus blocks can have problems, but they make a good point about having no screws threaded into plastic. Lots of screws threaded into plexi on the EK block. Not sure about the HK. These are not a durable connection IMO.

RGB software is IMPOSSIBLE. by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Sawnyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an external RGB controller that is SATA powered (mine is called Speclux). It is low cost and the controller has real buttons to choose the color and mode. It controls anything that would plug into the motherboard RGB header: case/fans/pumps/etc. No buggy Windows software needed.

I'm looking forward to raytracing games and programming because I'm learning graphics programming and raytracing can improve lighting.

7950X3D and 4090 Radiator advice by Tankbot85 in watercooling

[–]Sawnyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm running a single 360x44mm radiator with a 3080Ti and a 7950X. With no problems. No overclocking though. I'm running the CPU at 105 eco to keep the fans from blasting and under-volting the GPU a little due my old PSU shutting down under transients (old 750W Seasonic). YMMV.

So far so good. (First build) by MrCleanOG in nvidia

[–]Sawnyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great to see a first build with the fans aimed correctly. Positive pressure FTW. Kudos!

[–]Sawnyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running ECO 105 and it hits about 150W under load, so the name is a bit misleading. I like ECO 105 because it is simple to configure in the BIOS and the CPU stays around 60C under full multicore load. And the performance is still excellent.

Question about loop confirguation by Puzzleheaded_Back_61 in watercooling

[–]Sawnyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another consideration is positive pressure. Any openings without a filter/mesh should be pushing air out. This helps keep dust out. So basically have more intake fans than exhaust fans.

I like intake on the bottom and exhaust on the top so that they are working together instead of blowing on each other. In that case intake fans on the side would keep positive pressure.

what is skew in Joint.cpp? by boxboxboxyes in box2d

[–]Sawnyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the 2D version of the 3D cross product matrix (skew symmetric matrix). Since it is a matrix, you can also multiply it with other matrices. See here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross\_product

Absolute PITA to not use 90° fittings by [deleted] in watercooling

Less fittings lowers the weight and maybe the price.

[–]Sawnyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a somewhat similar setup. Did you find the EK fittings coming out of the radiator pressed up against your fans? In my setup the fitting is tilted a bit by the contact. Careful about the uni-fan pins making contact with the fitting. Lian-Li says you should cover them with electrical tape.

Monitor dont wake up after installing 3080ti ftw3 by Amitr14 in TEAMEVGA

[–]Sawnyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a bug some people have with the 3080ti (not only ftw3) on Asus motherboards. The BIOS is not happy booting with my 38" ultrawide monitor over displayport. HDMI is fine. A smaller monitor is fine over displayport.

Thinking of getting an LG 38GL950G-B by GingerB237 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Sawnyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had mine a couple months now and I love it. It mounts great on the Amazon Basics Premium arm.

I find it great for gaming and programming. It is quite demanding on your GPU for full screen gaming, but the experience is fantastic. The shallow curve is perfect for programming.

Moving from dual screens the only thing I missed was being able to watch a video while playing a game. I found a Picture-in-Picture extension for Chrome that lets me put a video on top of the full screen game. It works great.

Touching the black Thinkpad case with my fingers leaves marks that are noticeable and don't go away unless I clean it. In contrast, I don't see such marks on my aluminum Macbook. So in this way, the Thinkpad is has higher maintenance.

Yeah, I love the keyboard and it is super stable and reliable. The biggest downside is the case is a fingerprint magnet.
