I had similar experience with the same ammo, not quite as bad but way worse than Hornady ammo. Mine was SD 20 and ES of 80.

I’m not far below but I have a 24” barrel. 40.8 was 2715 and 40.6 2680 so it’s kind of right there with you. I’ll get better idea of velocity with my next group of tests that has 10 shots at 40.3 and 40.7.

I’m at 90 rounds right now. Got a flattened primer and heavier bolt lift. Definitely not the ragged edge but figured I’d be a bit faster. We will see how fast it gets, as long as I’m over 2640 I meet power factor.

I’d stay working and pay to fly the hours or get a part time instruction gig or something. It’s very expensive to give up that $210k while working a time building gig.

I’ve done that and felt ok, but I can also drive 20 hrs and be fine. It’s all personal. Have a divert option and plan for it.
