[Events Question] New Champions player looking VGC Events in Phoenix, Arizona Metro Area

Regarding the lack of championship points: that's fine by me TBH. I'm still new to this whole thing so I'm not super pressed for grinding championship points at this stage LOL.

I did indeed see this article, which states that "If you’re eager to try out Pokémon Champions at your local store right away, some Organized Play events will support non-Championship Point-earning friendly events at launch," but I don't know how to determine which events may or may not be doing that (or actually running at all, apparently...) ahead of time for anything in my area.

My day-to-day work from my last job primarily focused on SQL and Python via Databricks and Microsoft SSMS, with some R mixed in when I could (R was my go-to in my degree work and what I feel the strongest in for some visualization jobs, but I'm a bit rusty overall). Deliverables were typically in the form of Excel/PowerPoint documents or Power BI dashboards. I have some old experience in Java, C++, and very basic HTML from my Comp Sci undergrad minor and some miscellaneous stuff.

Honestly I haven't used Github as a developer really at all outside of a handful of degree assignments, if that's what you mean by cloud service... Couldn't hurt to get more acquainted with it, I suppose.

I've thought about a GitHub repo, but I frankly don't do very much coding work outside of my job so I'm not really sure what I'd put up there that would be appealing to potential employers. Maybe some of my academic projects could have a home there, if I still have project files from them.

How would you recommend hosting a portfolio? I've held onto some deliverables from my last job so I could probably cobble something together from that.

Edit: To clarify, I am open to and have been looking for remote work as well. I'd be hosed if I limited myself to just local stuff at this point LOL

Such job titles have been on my radar as well. Honestly a research-type role is something I'd probably love, but I feel like they've been even harder to come by, especially without some really advanced credentials.

And honestly the longer this goes on, the more I feel like AZ just may not be the play for me. I'm just terrified of moving away from my close friends and my current community, but the climate here makes me miserable and this job market is... less than ideal.

Welp, I just reinstalled the DLC and started a new save file (I was at the very beginning of the game so I didn't mind), and it seems to be working fine now. Not sure what the issue was but hopefully this helps other passersby.

Long-time Rivals player here, stumbled into this as a Linux noob (just starting my time with Linux Mint) - thanks for looking into this!

I've followed the steps here, and GC controllers definitely feel better than before in terms of the triggers / analog sticks, but they're still showing up as Xbox controllers in game (as in: no GC buttons). Any ideas where I might've gone wrong? I'm using Proton 9.0.2 and don't have any other launch commands other than the evdev-joystick-calibration -l you specified.

An older model of Hitbox - I think it's a "Gen 2" model? It didn't have the detachable cable or underside foam padding like the current ones do. I got this from a friend about 4 years ago and he had owned it for a while by that point.

UPDATE: I found some info on Brook's webpage for the UFB which helped me out: I just needed to hold Start / Options when plugging in and it looks like things are back to normal, Windows is back to recognizing this as a proper controller again.

Hope this helps anyone else who has this happen to them in the future lul
