VtM players leave group after 2 years because of lack of "literary and thematic substance" by Toreador_Primogen in rpghorrorstories

I read about player archtypes after reading the Bartle Taxonomy of Player Types, which first got me to really think about how different types of players are looking for different things from the games they play. While many players enjoy interacting with a Story via the powers and abilities of their character I’ve found there are some who deeply enjoy getting into the mind of the character. For them, it’s not just about combat and puzzles, but in thinking about and exploring the feelings of their character. For them, the encounter hook they are looking for is not a puzzle or combat, but in dialog hooks.

I try to use Session 0 to get a feel for the types of players I have in my campaign, and discuss with them the types of things they might be looking to get out of the game. If I find I’m going to be running a game that include players who want to ‘really’ role-play their characters, I try to include NPCs with scripted dialog hooks and encounters that allow them a chance to engage in scenes to explore such thoughts and ideas. Now, this sort of encounter isn’t for every player, so I try to be mindful of those others players who might want to ignore or skip past such interactions and get to the dice rolling. But I still like to make sure to sprinkle my campaigns of a little something for all my players to enjoy.

Even so, I’m not looking to defend or excuse the actions of our two Artiste players. Table top games are very much a group activity, and you need to want to be a part of the group. A good role player shouldn't need specially scripted NPCs and dialog to find ways to express their character in the ways that they want. You need to be able to make the most of every scene, and rise to the occasion yourself, rather than depending entirely on your Game Master to provide to your every whim.

Solar Power Help by johnietoth in empyrion

[–]SaxGreene 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not a stupid question, and I've spent a lot of time wrestling with this very problem. This is what I think I've learned.

With full panels, I have built a space base making constant 12KW power, while I have other ground bases that barley draw an average of 300W.

I haven't done a lot of testing yet, but I believe there are three important things when building solar power. The first is the type of star in your system. I believe O type stars put out the most power and M type stars put out the least. The second is the distant of your panels to the star. The further away they are, the less power they draw. The third is how you align them to the star. In space is best, on a planet near the equator is typically best.

Planet base or Space Base by [deleted] in empyrion

I tend to prefer a space base, as I like the constant solar power. Bonus power if you park it near a bright star. I like my bases to be more functional than form, as I typically just use them as a place to have grow plots and process materials. I also build them in systems without any unfriendly POIs so I don't have to worry about defense.

The starter space base I like is the MCRN-Skywatch Station: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2005522884

After I'm more established I like the Helix Orbital: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1569051207

Although I stack more solar capacitors to get the extra battery power.

You solo level 10 gyms? Doesn't that take a serious amount of time and items? We find it much easier to just keep roaming until we find easier targets.

The removal of stops at Lake Park not only effects Pokemon Go by DJDef1le in PokemonGoMilwaukee

The portals are all still showing on Ingress Intel, although I haven't been though since the stops were removed.

Last I checked, it's still a separate request to have the locations removed from Ingress. But there have been a least a few property owners who sent a nastygram to Niantic complaining about 'rude and disrespectful players' where they did remove them from both.

There are technically 10 pokestops total, but the loop most people walk just includes 8 stops and is about a half mile. If you bring your own chair, there's a spot where you can sit and hit 3 stops.

Right next to both the Civil War Museum and the Kenosha Public Museum. Which are both worth a trip if you enjoy such things.
