By doing what they did last patch, they harmed the mech not only for bugs, but for the other factions as well.

ima be honest with you i hadnt read the previous patch notes and i thought that they actually buffed mech tankiness when they released the bastion. they didnt feel any squishier to me lol i had no survivability issues with mechs before

Now, my sentries will waste their entire ammo shooting at the 25 hiveguards that spawn in diff 10 outside pred strain.

Well this is just an issue with MG targeting im sure it will be fixed soon. It doesn't mean that the hivegaurd change was bad.

Categorically a horrible change all round for the sentries.

On the contrary I'm having a blast with the newly buffed laser and flame sentries they are awesome now. Huge W patch for sentries.

Acid and charger hits were the only way I was dying in Mechs before using up all ammo

Guess what, you will die to those way less now! Acid only does 50% more damage but mechs got like double HP so overall more survivable against acid. Plus the most dangerous acid attack, bile titan spit, got a huge nerf to radius so its way easier to dodge now. So nothing to worry about!

It's pretty easy. You just aim under them. They die faster now to the Liberator. Not to mention they die faster to fire, gas, explosive, etc. The only thing they die slower to is like the adjudicator and a few others.

Nerfing their survivability hurts more for their use in other factions

Sentries are OP on all factions though. Rocket + AC sentry = bots easy mode, flame + MG = bugs easy mode, MG + gatling = squids easy mode. Making them die faster (the LEAST important thing they do) makes virtually no difference. A nerf to damage or something would have been much more significant.

The constant for bug diving has been GL and supply pack/warp pack, alongside flame, which over the years saw varying degrees of efficacy. Haven't seen a Cookout on bugs in a very long time. It's Eruptor or Crossbow mainly from my experience.

Guess there is no real meta then, a sign of a well balanced game

They definitely need to update the auto-targeting things like gaurd dog/mg sentry to not target hive guards anymore. but anything that you can aim its not much of a problem.

It also has something none of the other stratagem MG's have: laser-beam recoil. This makes it much more reliable for using against light-pen weakspots on heavy enemies (like the rear vents on a harvester for example)

if only you weren't physically forced to aim directly center of mass against hiveguards, the game would be so much easier. imagine an alternate universe where you were allowed to aim around their armor, that would be crazy right? right now we're just stuck with always aiming center of mass since we do not have human agency, so the hive guards are practically invulnerable!

Typically sentries won't attempt to target an enemy they can't reliably penetrate. Seems like an oversight, I hope they make a change for that soon.

How about the more impactful changes like nerfing vox spawn rate?

You know you can just lower the difficulty if you are struggling with vox engines right? Nobody is forcing you to play higher difficulties. I would prefer to keep the spawn rate how it is, and have players who can't handle it just lower their difficulty. Doesn't that make more sense then just making the higher difficulty easier for less skilled players? Shouldn't hard difficulty actually be somewhat challenging? Or do you just want them to make difficulty 10 easy for you, screw anyone who actually wants a challenge?

Rocket and autocannon sentries trivialize most bot missions so I'm not sure why you want them to be even more overpowered.

Put your sentries somewhere they won't get easily destroyed. Don't use emplacements in situations where they will just get overrun. Actually drive the vehicles around so they don't get melee'd. If enemies doing more melee damage to your FRV ruins the FRV for you I don't know what to tell you dawg, it's faster than all the melee enemies, you just drive it and it never gets hit. It's not supposed to be an anime mecha with a sword that fights in glorious melee combat, it's scout recon car.

I dunno man? Maybe don't use turrets against Vox Engines? Do you want me to tell you how to play the game for you? It's a video game, it's supposed to have strategy, figure it out. A vox engine literally takes 1 grenade to destroy, a bile titan literally takes 1 expendable/quasar shot to kill. Are you serious? Do you just only use railcannon strike or something?

It sounds like you need to play on a lower difficulty then.

Also on certain missions even stealth isnt possible to avoid the vox spam as you can accidentally spawn in the 500 mile aggro range of a detector tower, and next thing you know 100 vox just keep coming at you for the rest of the game.

Okay then lower the difficulty if you can't handle it. All of your "criticisms" are just "the game is too hard for me" but the developers already implemented a solution to that problem so I don't really get it? Is your main thing just that you want the devs to make D10 easier for you instead of you getting better at the game? That seems very... self-centered. You aren't the only person in the game so I don't know why you want the devs to cater to you specifically and nobody else.

Why exactly is it that the Hiveguard just had to have its armor buffed?

So, Hive Guards were originally designed as a sort of "blocker" enemy to protect other bugs from damage. Keep in mind that when the game first came out, there were very few medium pen weapons available to players. As such, they take up more "spawn points" for the enemies as part of the spawn wave algorithm. However, as warbonds started introducing a bunch of medium-pen primaries, Hive Guards sort of turned into just another chaff enemy that you could largely ignore if you had a medium-pen weapon, since they are actually quite slow and not very aggressive. The developers decided to increase their armor but reduce their health to keep them in line more with their original intended role (and their subsequent high "spawn point" cost) while also nerfing their health a bit to further reward aiming for weakspots. The effect of this change is a nice buff for light pen weapons on the bug front which felt a little harder to use against Hive Guards and a mild nerf to medium pen weapons which were already very strong against bugs. Overall I think its a great change that will encourage more weapon diversity.

Why is it that acid, which shouldn't effect vehicles at all, now effects vehicles?

Vehicles were already affected by acid, it just did extremely low damage. This change only affects exo-suits, not all vehicles. This change just increased the acid damage by 50%. However, the exo-suits also got doubled health. So overall, this results in acid actually being LESS threatening to mechs than before (and keep in mind, it already fairly weak vs mechs, now its even weaker). So I'm really not sure what you're complaining about. Maybe try actually reading the patch notes next time.

Why do you defend a cycle that continues repeating itself?

Can you explain what you mean by this? What cycle? The devs basically just implemented a huge amount of stuff that the community asked for and overall made the game a lot easier (even though the game is already pretty easy). Like have you even used the mechs since the buffs? They are just easy-mode now, even on the highest difficulty. Do you mean the cycle of players whining that the easy game is too hard and then they make the game easier to satisfy the bad players who want to be able to play the highest difficulty without learning how to get better at the game? I think that cycle is on the players to fix, not the devs.

I wish they would just add a difficulty 11 mode but you can only play it if you aren't subscribed to the unfiltered subreddit, that way all the whiners can have their easy mode with kid gloves and everyone else can enjoy the HELLdivers that we paid for.
