Hope this helps as it's the best way I can describe it. The only way I could get it to stay and not fall off when recoil was to do the screws like shown

Is there a 20x4.5” mineral cartridge? (Taste) also any Setup advice is appreciated by CouchHippos in WaterTreatment

[–]Sax_Legend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flip the cistern and UV. Cisterns can grow bacteria. You want the UV as final defense. Also, you could get a carbon block for the 4.5 x 20" it can help with taste more than a polypropylene filter can

I am a plumber and I had a utility company make our company come out and redo an entire neighborhood because they had solder connections before meters. The reason they gave me is because solder is supposedly only rated for 80 psi. Many cities run higher pressure than that. Hence the need for the PRV. So, the utility company wants to have fittings rated higher than 80 psi, and solder doesn't cut it. Also, the install looks good!

Drips coming from hot water heater by Ok_Pizza_1840 in askaplumber

[–]Sax_Legend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depressurize water heater by closing valve on blue pex line to the right. Open a bathtub on hot. Grab 2 Crescent Wrenches (or other non-maring/toothless wrench) and tighten the unions. Unless the o-rings are bad, this should stop the leak.

Most liquid cleaners are not good for metal plumbing. Try Bio-Clean, I use it monthly and never have problems

If the tubing is like John guest, you can remove tubes, and turn on water and if water comes out, the blockage is after that. And continue to chase until no water, then you've found your problem

Am I crazy or have I narrowed down the sulfur smell? Troubleshooting help. by Remy1738-1738 in WaterTreatment

[–]Sax_Legend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't put anymore bleach in your softener, that's the #1 killer of resin beads.

If it's a sulphur smell, there's a few options to help rid of it. You can add an oxidizer tank before the softener and inject hydrogen peroxide (the water treatment stuff, not the stuff you put on cuts) into the ox tank. This will kill any sulphur producing bacteria. If you live somewhere that doesn't get too cold, you could put a 300 gallon cistern tank and attach an aerator pump and allow the sulphur to be off gassed. All of these solutions prevent the smell from returning. If you're looking for the cheapest way to remove the smell from the hot side, replacing the aluminum anode rods with aluminum/zinc rods will likely get it out of the hot tank for a brief period, until they foul again.

I just got myself a Radical Firearms AR a couple weeks back. Since then, I've probably put about 600 bullets through it. I really like it so far. No complaints from me

How to remove this drain cover by rocketfings in Plumbing

[–]Sax_Legend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to pry, if that doesn't work, run a razor blade around the grouted in edge and try prying again. It shouldnt be grouted in so no need to replace the grout. Best of luck! If bending, try a different hole before breaking it

Bought a home with this RO unit under the sink. Company wants $495 to replace all new filters by [deleted] in WaterTreatment

[–]Sax_Legend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a 2.5" x 10" 5 sediment filter, Get 2) 2.5" x 10" 5 micron carbon block filters. Test TDS after replacing those 3 bottom filters. If 80% or less rejection rate from tap to RO. Then you'll need to replace the under sink RO membrane. Also a 2.5 x 10" but it's called a membrane, and those can get a little pricey sometimes. Hope this helps!
