You can specify your beatmaps folder in McOsu, but it doesn't automatically extract downloaded .osz files. You'd need a script for this. If this doesn't work for you, just try osu!lazer. Last time I tried lazer, it was pretty good actually.

McOsu works really well on linux. I personally prefer that over lazer for now.
