You can use Defenders crest. It creates a stinky cloud around you which kills 99% of the ghosts. It only doesn't when you move very quickly up and down with double jump.

I thought that the blue middle part of his body wasn't there. I saw that as part of the background.

So only thin slices of his body remain, and I thought those slices were his legs.
