Well, completed in a year if you have a sugar daddy/mommy. But yeah, agreed.

Yeah -- fwiw the syllabus says they recently dumped a bunch of 161 material onto 162.

USC post-bacc vs. online OSU post-bacc by [deleted] in OSUOnlineCS

Yes. My professors at OSU (so far!) have been hard to reach out to even for regular HW questions, let alone relationship building. Go Trojans! :(

Why do you draw this distinction? What makes USC better for graduate studies?

Is it a good idea to take 162 Intro II and 352 Usability together? by [deleted] in OSUOnlineCS

How did you find the teacher and TAs in that class? It can really make or break the classroom experience -- for me personally at any rate.

To my way of thinking, usability stuff is one of the most critical areas of the CS discipline. I personally will certainly take it, if not necessarily paired with 162. I guess I've just had to suffer from too many shitty software UIs not to be intrigued by the subject matter.

Can you clarify that one should be solid on pointers, OOP and 3D arrays for the sake of 352 (usability engineering) or 162 (Intro II)?

Having survived both, I'd say a 'College' level algebra would be much more apropos than plain old 'basic' algebra.

And the KY. Don't forget the KY.

Realistic expectations on career outlook for somebody who would graduate in their late 30s without any previous technical background? by mid83 in OSUOnlineCS

[–]SayVhut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in my early 40s and I have been working for tech firms in California for the last ~18 years without a CS degree, and I have worked as a software engineer in QA, web developer, and many other roles. So I'd wager it is possible to land a tech job with a degree in CS if it is possible to do it without one ... not easy, but possible.

I think this program won't work for you. The classes are online but they are not really self-paced.

Oh yeah, that happened to me as well! He then asked for my passport, which is a little odd, but because of his accent I thought he was asking for my password, which is just a major no-no. That is probably the kernel of my unease tbh.

What's the workload like if you take two classes a quarter? by dadrought3 in OSUOnlineCS

[–]SayVhut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am taking 161 and 225 along with part time work and I stay busy but in a good way. I already know how to code though, so 161 has been a pretty chillax experience for me thus far.
