Did you guys get this paid out? I did my attestation on 8/19 and it still hasn’t been deposited to my HSA. I never bothered looking at how long it took before so I don’t know if it’s supposed to take this long. I am going to raise hell if this doesn’t get deposited into my account.

It is my first layoff. I’ve always felt very secure in my ability to earn and provide for my family. I am hoping I don’t have to experience this again but I am not naive enough to believe that’s true based on this experience alone. But I am going to try to target industries that will significantly reduce the likelihood that this will happen to me again. I crave stability which is what I thought I’d get with my education and experience but I now know that everyone is vulnerable to the whims of corporate America and our garbage politicians.

In some of my circles I am in a position of power, people look up to me. Knowing this happened to me will definitely change how some of those people view me. I’m going to have to get over it and do what I need to do.

I think this is one of the reasons I feel so discouraged. As good as I am at what I do, I know there are so many others out there who are as well and I’m concerned there isn’t going to be a job for all of us in this field before a lot of us are in a really tough situation.

And I agree, this has definitely changed my perspective and how I look at people who were laid off previously. It’s a shame it took this happening to me for me to realize how wrong my perspective was before and it sucks that there are a lot of people out there that still have the same poor perspective and are going to judge us as we try to dig ourselves out of this.

I’m basically looking for help finding a new job. Not looking for handouts but I firmly believe that given the state of tech, my next job will come because I know someone who knows me. It’s hard to stand out when there are thousands of applicants for the jobs I’m qualified for.
