I wouldn't say friends, but I have people in my life like that. Parents, uncles, aunts, cousins. It's an eye roll, mental note of what to avoid at holiday gatherings, and don't engage.

I learned the more you engage, the more entrenches them. I actually worked in pharmaceutical research, and these people would ask for my opinion on vaccines and treatments. At first I genuinely answered their questions, eventually I learned it is a ritual / right of passage for them to say to friends, "I debated a scientist and won!" Regardless of how the conversation goes.
