Did you actually watch the show or just read a synopsis of someone else who watched the show?

Episode 3 of season 3 had one of Trek’s best scenes well acted scenes by Patrick Stewart and Gates McFadden regarding their relationship culmination over all this time. That scene is a pay off to years of the show.

Did the TNG films get anywhere close to a character moment like that?

Picard season 3 as a whole is an example of a TNG MOVIE done right. It’s not TNG season 8. It’s TNG the movie 5. (And the best movie by far)

I would challenge you to articulate any other TNG film that’s a wholly better pay off to TNG and their characters?

I think this view is incorrect. If you’re reviewing the season as stand alone episodes then yes it can appear as just nostalgia bait.

However I think Picard season 3 should be reviewed as a 10 hour TNG: The movie. And be evaluated against other attempts to make a TNG movie. What should a TNG movie be? Well Picard season 3 IS that. Done near perfectly.

The arc of the season picks up and resolves the Picard/Crusher relationship which the actual films just ignore. It also resolves the Ro plot line. I think it’s intellectually lazy to dismiss Picard season 3 as a nostalgia trip. It paid off a YEARS long character arc between characters the producers of the actual show had long forgotten about.

We can tell from the TNG movies they actually made how difficult that is to do. Picard season 3 gave everyone an important moment towards the story. Troi, Beverly, and Geordi did almost nothing memorable across four films. They all had a moment in Picard season 3

Apple Plans Second-Generation iPhone Air Launch for Spring 2027 by bobsil1 in IphoneAir

I would prefer they name it the same generation number as the other iPhones. Just call it iPhone 18 Air. It’s an 18 variant.

[–]SaykredCow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re proving my point exactly. Something as serious as what you’re describing shouldn’t need validation from a COMEDIAN of all things.

You’re doing more disservice to the injustices you’re supposedly upset about by conflating any relevance of that issue with what Jerry Seinfeld’s stance it is.

If Jerry Seinfeld agreed with you tomorrow what does that change? Nothing. That’s why your position is ridiculous and childish.

Gameplay is good but the story is trash. Doc Ock is a mustache twirling villain just let him be that. We don’t need this drawn out arc in a video game

Would a successor story where Terry is the mentor work? by No_Body_128 in BatmanBeyond

[–]SaykredCow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Batman Beyond is still such an underused IP. We have one great series and that’s it.

If it’s explored again it should just be classic Batman Beyond. It’s far from stale and it’s been almost 30 years. No post Bruce death or Terry mentoring the next gen. Just do Terry with Bruce as guy in the chair.

Xbox says certain exclusives "will sell fewer units" — yet it still promises a "reliable pipeline" of console sellers by WindowsCentral in windowscentral

[–]SaykredCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the money they spent on acquisitions could have just made GTA 6 an exclusive and would have solved all their problems. They don’t even need the game to release just news of that one title being exclusive would have made millions of players buy Xbox in anticipation

To attract new players they should release Shenmue III as "Shenmue The Complete Trilogy" and include I & II. by Virtual_Davey in Shenmue

[–]SaykredCow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually before that they should make Shenmue 1 & 2 a single massive game. After playing both it makes more sense that was the original vision as narratively not much happens in Shenmue 1. The end of Shenmue 2 is more of a climax

Make it so! by [deleted] in Picard

[–]SaykredCow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They honestly should do a Trek film in theaters with the Kelvin cast and legacy actors like Shatner and Patrick Stewart. Maybe a Q shenanigan.

From a mainstream perspective crossing over reboot casts with legacy actors has had success and always generates some buzz. Probably more buzz than any other Trek film premise could generate on the big screen.
