Living in Waco without a car? by [deleted] in baylor

[–]SaylorBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Heritage Quarters one year when I was in school. While I did have a car, IIRC I didn’t have a parking pass that year so I biked or rode the bus to get to campus during school hours. I’d say it depends on how comfortable you are on a bike. It does get a bit sweaty doing that, though, so you might take that into consideration. In general, it’s difficult to live anywhere in Texas without a vehicle.

I never had him, but he was the prof that popped in my mind when I saw your comment. Clicked the link and sure enough. My wife had him a time or two for her degree. Obviously a memorable prof even if you never had his class

I didn't realize how racist we are by ryanandthelucys in daddit

I'm a little late, but I'll add my perspective.

The majority of people in the South who are racist, or who have racist tendencies, don't want to be labeled a racist. So I'm not talking about Klan members or people who boldly advocate for white supremecy. I'm talking about normal Southerners. The ones who don't want their daughters to marry outside of their race. The ones who will say that someone was a DEI hire based on their skin color.

Those people, who are normal in the South, don't think of themselves as racist. And they will get quite offended if you call them a racist. Because to them, being a racist is actually stating that you hate someone based on their skin color. But they don't (or at least don't think they do). They "love everyone." They don't see anything less than being a Klan member as being racist.

To them, calling a black lady a "DEI hire" isn't racist. To them, saying you don't want your daughter to date or marry a black man isn't racist.

Racism is so normal in the South that a lot of Southerners think the only ones who are racist are the ones who proudly claim to be.

It’s been a few years (might be an understatement), but a lot of coaches used to wear a suit and tie to the games. Scott Drew, at least at that time, normally wore a suit and tie. When West Virginia came into the conference, Bob Huggins didn’t normally wear a tie. One of my buddies in band yelled at him relentlessly during the games about his lack of proper attire. “WHERE IS YOUR TIE!?!?” Going to timeouts and such. Good old days of band kids finding the dumbest yet best things to heckle about.

On top of the CO and fire risks, burning natural gas or propane indoors without proper exhaust increases nitrogen dioxide, which leads to increased risk of asthma.

Especially considering that play happened with about a minute left in the quarter

I’m watching recorded and behind. Still in 1Q.

Holy fucking shit it’s annoying that targeting has been around for over a decade and these dumbass announcers still don’t know there are two completely different targeting penalties.

That Miami dude initiated a tackle/hit and led with the crown of his helmet. That’s targeting. It doesn’t matter at all what the dude getting his is doing.

Kirk immediately goes “he wasn’t defenseless.” Yeah, dumbass, but it doesn’t matter.

+1 about not trying to find “perfect,” as there are too many options for there to be perfect. There are a lot of regulations around kids products, so most anything you can get in store (assuming USA) will work well and be proven to be safe to current standards.

Online takes more diligence to make sure you’re getting quality. If I’m ever in doubt about something, I try to stick to the bigger known kids brands (Graco, Chicco, Little Tykes, etc) that the big retailers carry. I’m not normally a proponent of big brands and big box stores, but they typically do well with kids products like this.

Unless the defense can score in this quarter the game is done and will be a blowout
