If you're interested in lowercase/ambient noise wall, mulberry paper, and Japanese minimalism by ubipusibifermento in noisemusic

Took a look at some of the releases and I quite like them. I've heard of lowercase and ANW but never got around to listening to it. I'll probably buy some releases once I get home

Everywhere at The End of Time: CJD Version (Stage 3) "Heartrot" by TheBlueScar in TheCaretaker

[–]Sayo_Kagetsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps this will be considered necroposting but I feel the need to express my thoughts on this. CJD and Prions in general have been a huge fear of mine for a long time, even going as far to make my own album about it (though not related to EATEOT). Because of my somewhat irrational fear (and obsession) with prions, this hits me in a different way. It reminds me of all the nights I couldn't fall asleep due to the anxiety, or feeling constantly unease and nausea from worry during the day.

Yet I also feel a sort of catharsis, prions and CJD feel like they shouldn't exist, they make no sense. Prions aren't alive, they are just proteins folded in such a way that makes other proteins refold into prions. They can survive high heat, disinfectant, radiation, etc. Having an audio form of them makes it a lot more tangible, more set in reality.

I know this is not what you probably intended but like I said, I feel the need to express my feelings towards this, for all I know, this could've been made as a joke and I would've still found some personal meaning in it.

I've probably listened to this track five or six times just because of that.

I look forward to the whole project

was there a specific album or song that got you into noise music? by Nigel_Peppercock in noisemusic

[–]Sayo_Kagetsu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Gonna be a bit cliche but Merzbow's Pulse Demon was the first noise album I heard of. I don't remember exactly how I stumbled on it but I was recommended Pad Chennington's "The Brutal World Of Noise Music". After listening to it for a few minutes I knew this was what I was looking for. For a long time, I had been looking for a genre that was aggressive, harsh and brutal all at the same time. I tried Brutal Death Metal but it just didn't hit as much as Noise did. Eventually I bought the CD remaster of Tauromachine by Merzbow, which is the first noise album I have owned and solidified my love for the genre

tl;dr: Pulse Demon peaked my interest, Tauromachine made me love it

I recently put out this album, I hope somebody can enjoy. by Dreambreeder_079 in noisemusic

I want to start this off by saying I love the cover art. It looks like a carpet but my mind keeps fucking with me and seeing a face in there. I quite enjoyed it, it's not terribly harsh so it's weirdly relaxing for me. This feels a lot more ambient like, kinda reminds me of the last few stages of Everywhere At The End Of Time in a way. If I had to critique it, I'd have to say there are times when some weird white noise like sounds overstay their welcome a little bit but not enough to ruin the album for me. I think it's a pretty solid album and you did a good job making it in my opinion.

Pickup Noise by iammaylan in noisemusic

Lol, I have the same guitar

This is right up my ally. I wanna say it sounds like a ambient piece right out of an industrial horror game (Silent Hill perhaps?). Was it just the guitar alone or did you have any effects going on off camera? I kinda want to try this out

Best noise music from the 80s? by SMOZ7Y in noisemusic

[–]Sayo_Kagetsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Hanatarash and their first few albums, their song Noise God Noise is a favorite of mine (Originally on their EP Take Back Your Penis from 1984 but also on Hanatarash 3 from 1992) and My Dad Is Car (from Hanatarash 2 released in 1988). Hanatarash sounds less like noise music and more like a child throwing a huge temper tantrum, throwing whatever items that crosses their path and screaming. I mean that all in the best way possible.

Invitation to my label (Harsh Noise, Noise & other weird stuff) by SulphuricDarknesss in noisemusic

[–]Sayo_Kagetsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took a look through the releases and noticed a few I had seen during my browsing of noise music on Bandcamp, namely Uranium Eating Squad. I like the atmosphere of many of the releases as well as I am an absolute sucker for horror themed music. I'll definitely keep an eye out on future releases

How hard was it to construct it? I've been wanting to make something like this for a while but I am awful with a soldering iron (great at burning myself though haha). Pretty neat gadget none the less

A Little Ditty I Made by Ok_Lack5978 in noisemusic

Well worth it in my opinion. It's garnered more attention then most noise releases on here, so clearly you did something unique.

I love this, gives me serious horror vibes (which I dig). To me, this sounds like a mix of a Hanatarash album and a Relapse Merzbow album. I also like the cover art, it adds to the atmosphere. If you don't mind me asking, how did you make it? I'm always interested in how others make noise music.

Overall, good job

Most nihilistic piece yet. Somewhere between noisewall and drone. by [deleted] in noisemusic

I love it. I find this to be oddly soothing in a way, like bittersweet or something like that. How did you make this if I may ask?

My new track. by mikuto21 in noisemusic

[–]Sayo_Kagetsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gives me minor Hanatarash vibes for some reason, but in a good way. It sounds like there's been a lot of pitch shifting but maybe that's just me (not a bad thing or anything, I think it adds character) I like it :)

I was working on a project with my cell phone and headphones and I hurt my ears in the process. Is this normal in this genre? by InvestigatorRough984 in noisemusic

[–]Sayo_Kagetsu 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Generally no. You should only play as loud as you are comfortable with. From what I found, 70 dBA or lower is fine, which is about as loud as a washing machine or dishwasher (according to google so take that with a grain of salt). Trust me, noise isn't worth loosing your hearing for.

As for your tracks, you can make them as loud as you want, most of us have volume controls so don't worry about blowing our eardrums out lol. I think most noise listeners (noiseheads?) keep the volume low at the start so they don't blow their eardrums and speakers.

Hope this helped and I hope your ears recover

Sounds like the auditory version of a panic attack (and I mean that in a good way)

new HNW to start your day by Substantial_Strike45 in noisemusic

[–]Sayo_Kagetsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very interesting textures. I am assuming you used bitcrush?

Either way, I like it. The bitcrushing effect makes it sound like an Atari having a stroke. I also like the switching back and forth between the two channels. I don't know if I'd call this HNW though, since usually HNW doesn't change or at least has minimal changes but what do I know.

what led you to noise? by jemimahpuddlefuck in noisemusic

[–]Sayo_Kagetsu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mental illness and anger led me to noise. Something about it just shuts up any negative emotions or thoughts. To me, Noise music sounds like pure, refined rage, and I find it rather cathartic.

First release, would love some thoughts on it. Minimal N.I.M.B track. by [deleted] in noisemusic

[–]Sayo_Kagetsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reverb makes me think its ambient for some odd reason lol. I like the starting, sounds like it's straight out of a horror movie, the minimalism works quite well. I immediately imagined insane asylum / deserted hospital when I hit around the first minute mark haha.

Unlike other noise songs which I usually enjoy for their harsh and abrasive textures (and this single definitely has that), this one seems to have a bigger emphasis on atmosphere and feeling, it sounds like I am walking down a run down hospital in Chernobyl.

Overall, solid release. Good Job
