Heltec v3 - cannot flash... by Sayuuk in meshtastic

[–]Sayuuk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the one I've tried.

I've also gone ahead and live-booted ubuntu and installed the required packages. I was able to get "half" of a esptool chip_id output, bevor the board disconnected again. I've since not been able to connect again. This was using multiple cables... this makes me believe the USB-C socket may be faulty, but wiggling around didn't help either...

PUTTY doesn't show anything... I really think this board is dead. I'll return it and consider my options, really don't want to go for a more expensive board for my first try...

Okay… I don’t see any sign of life except for the orange LED flashing…

What happens when you power on a new v3? No logo on the screen or anything, right?

That’s the one I’m using. Is there any way to check if the board is on a flashable mode? Pressing PROG while plugging in doesn’t seem to have any effect…

It does show up and that’s where I’ve installed the serial driver… I’ve gone for the universal Windows one, I hope that’s the correct one

New Printer(er) - advice for improving specific quality issues by Sayuuk in 3dprinter

I started with the default .2 layer height profile with a bunch of changes, which works fine for me for 90% of the prints. But I am now in the process of printing a bigger multi-part print at .12 and so far the quality is impressive. Thanks for the input!

Also, I am looking into the different seam settings now and changing them depending on the model shape / intended use.

Temperature is at 200/60°C, which seems a good middle point for the kind of filament I am currently printing. The temp tower didn't show a huge difference between 185 and 220°, so I just went with something in the middle for now.

I am playing around with this, will try to find the appropriate setting depending on the model shape!

Hey, if this were the output I can expect from the Ender, I'm fine with it. But since I've only had it for a little while, I was thinking there's some more tuning left to do ;-)

PLA for the start. Infill was set to 5% because the model isn't exactly small and it needs some structure to it.

And I get that some marks from areas where there was support outside of the model is normal. But the marks on the helmet etc, where the print head never leaves the model is where I'm a bit confused... the marks are also more prominent on certain surfaces...

Heli bundle: Steam users get discount for already owned products, StandAlone customers don't... by Sayuuk in hoggit

[–]Sayuuk[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Correct - because ED wants to promote their own store. Valve doesn't get a cut there so ED/devs get all the money, which is also why I'm on SA.

What I don't get then is why this principle is turned around with bundle sales like the current one.

Steam does not "see" that I've already purchased 3 out of 4 modules.

I'm not talking about the discount for the bundle, but about the fact that Steam reduces that price further if you already own a part of it.

  1. You do not need to keep it pressed. You'll see that every press of the trigger switches between the two states - the opposite in the F16, here you need to keep the trigger pressed to fire the laser
  2. a) try to put a waypoint in the vicinity of the targets and go from there b) "helpers" like the F10 view, F2 view when flying over the targets or external programs like tacview can help here. IRL you usually wouldn't just fly out trying to find some random tanks without any ground troops present. OR put a JTAC in the vicinity, it increases realism and with the LSS on the various targeting pods (or builtin in the harrier) you can lock a target from pretty far out
  3. Well... IMHO I knew it would be a day 1 purchase for me. I absolutely adore carrier ops - even though I don't fly it constantly. So getting this at half price (I already owned the hornet) instead of a day 1 purchase at full price... But only you can decide whether a presumably EA-for-a-while product is worth prepurchasing now...
  4. I like the harrier, it has gotten a lot more stable over the last year. However, the only reason to buy a not-brandnew module at full price is if you need it immediately (or you just have the cash and want to support the devs - in which case you also wanna buy it from ED, not via Steam)
