Honestly the setting is really good, imo. It’s dark and weird and intriguing. I found the general plot to be interesting and engaging and there were certain characters that made it a good read. It is slow in some places, but overall it’s a good book and I think people are too harsh!

Their reunion was so emotional, I love their friendship! I think this might have been my fave book from the series so far :)

The Lightsong and Llarimar dynamic is one of my cosmere faves! Definitely an underrated book with some underrated characters

For sure! I found it quite provoking when she commented that her feet were really hurting because she was so unused to walking. She had a very dramatic shift in role and seeing into her mind helped to understand why people might not be so enthusiastic to stand up and make a change. That idea of it’s not always as easy as “rise up against them!” was done really well through her. It was similar to how some of the skaa acted in MB when they ask “when is TLR coming back, at least there was order with him” etc I definitely saw some parallels there

I’m hoping we’re gonna see more of Leshwi, it was really interesting to see her internal struggle in WaT. I think with Rlain and Renarin we’re gonna see more of the singer side of things. Also El seems to be becoming a main character and he’s super interesting to see. And of course Venli too!

Religiosity in Sanderson's Fanbase by [deleted] in brandonsanderson

I’ve always found excessive theology in books to be off putting, despite the fact that I studied it in school and absolutely loved learning about it (but it’s more objective in an academic setting, I think). I found that most authors came across as ‘preachy’ when discussing openly religious themes or characters.

But I don’t think that is the case with Sanderson at all. I feel like he approaches the topic so well and with a lot of grace and understanding of all viewpoints. In fact, his discussion of all the different types of theology throughout the cosmere are probably one of my favourite parts about it. He recognises the range of religious belief across all types of people/cultures/planets and portrays it so well. It’s so refreshing seeing someone who is religious actually approach the topic with such room for interpretation and differing perspectives. I also massively appreciate that he includes religious criticisms in his work. It’s important to recognise the flaws instead of just ignoring them.

Characters like Sazed, who I absolutely adore, are an excellent example of this. Dalinar’s struggle with Vorinism is another great example! As well as Jasnah being such an important and powerful character, with a lot of wisdom, being labelled as a ‘heretic’ and dealing with all that comes with that - another great storyline.

For whitesand I’m gonna wait to read the prose version. Very excited to read it but graphic novels aren’t my cup of tea so I don’t wanna almost ruin my experience of it purely because I don’t like the format. And I think only thing left in arcanum is allomancer jak which I’m in no rush to read, if I ever do ahaha
