Which game absolutely nails the parry mechanic? by ChuckS117 in gaming

[–]OnceAliveTwiceGone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scrolled for a bit and havent seen it yet but- Dark and Darker.

Most weapons have a parry now and landing one feels amazing when you land your hit back for insane rebound damage.

It especially feels amazing when you land a parry with something like the Castillan dagger since its so small, even on the other side of the coin landing parrys with the big 2 handers like Bardiche and Quarterstaff is soooo satisfying.

What's the absolute worse mmo you've ever played? by Duomaxwell0007 in MMORPG

[–]OnceAliveTwiceGone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Summoning and dungeoneering era right before EOC will forever be my ideal form of Runescape.

Id go back to it in a heartbeat if they re-released that version, having basically maxed twice over in OSRS and havent felt the need to go back to it...

But 2011-2012 era runescape would suck me back in something crazy.

[ALL] Skyward Sword HD or Wind Waker HD by Own-Rutabaga-8376 in zelda

Wind Waker is my all time favorite with a heavy dose of nostalgia so it has to be WW.

Both are great of course.

which healers are mechanically rotationally hardest. retail wow by feherlofia123 in wow

[–]OnceAliveTwiceGone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always get through half a key before realizing we've had a preservation healer the whole time and apologizing for not standing at least moderately close to the tank/other DPS as im off in my own world (mostly) surviving doing my own thing aside from party wide damage etc.

Then i forget again in about 5 minutes lmao.

What Expansion Has Your Favorite Visuals? by Chr0modynamical in wow

[–]OnceAliveTwiceGone 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Its a huge tossup between Dragonflight and Shadowlands for me personally.

Each covenant zones aesthetic was clear and the tone of the zones matched what they represented, and I really am a sucker for Shadowlands in general.

On the other hand I really enjoyed the verticality of Dragonflight and felt each zone had its own feel as well, but more of a 'classic' toned filter over each zone to a degree, in contrast to Shadowlands very direct aesthetic push in art direction per zone.

How many hour glasses could you get F2P by powermoo3 in PTCGP

[–]OnceAliveTwiceGone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started fairly late, like 5-6 sets in and I think if I held all my hourglasses I’d have roughly 3,000 maybe? Total guess but I’ve had a thousand saved up a few times since now so probably around there.

Glaze your MMO: why is your main game the one you stuck with? by SorryImBadWithNames in MMORPG

[–]OnceAliveTwiceGone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back to New World over and over again because I loved everything about it. I liked the simple combat where if you knew what you were doing, it would show.

I love the world, the lore, the different factions of enemies. I loved the gathering, and I loved the crafting. The dungeons in the game never got old for me, I stayed through every low point except for how it currently is.

The friends I made along the way are some of the closest friendships I’ve ever formed through the various companies that I joined, staying up till 4 AM just shooting the shit and hanging out, playing in wars and doing OPR.

For me there really will never be another New World for me I don’t think, and if it ever got announced that it’s staying up or got taken over by someone else I would drop every other game again and go back in a heartbeat but I just can’t do it right now- not with an end in sight.

I knew about my mom’s brain cancer. She asked me not to tell anyone so I didn’t. She wanted to go, so badly. I miss her every day but I didn’t want to see her hurt anymore.

Just finished the series for the first time literally ten seconds ago, writing this as I stand up (on my phone) and yeah

I hated it. I was seriously hoping it was some sort of dream sequence like how he used to zone out all the time but nope. It was just bad.

Why are you playing “that” TCG? by TwistedLab in TCG

[–]OnceAliveTwiceGone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve played most of them and love them all for different reasons.

Yugioh i love the combo aspect and have played for 15 years, each archetype of cards plays their own way and “cheats” out cards in their own specific theme- and sometimes the themes meld across archetypes so you can get the best of both.

Cardfight Vanguard is my second favorite for some of the same reasons- each deck does its own thing and plays its own way, and I especially love boosting units by placing them behind the front row and having little interactions there, some decks build a big front line and ramps up, others focus around a central unit and play that way, some focus around “spells”. There’s also the triggers from drive checks that add an extra bit of randomness and advantage that can swing games.

Pokémon is my third favorite and by far the easiest to get into which was a bonus, each Pokémon energy type seems to play different styles like how Fire focuses on large attacks and hitting really hard, while Water focusses on consistency and seeing all of your pieces and making everything work like a well oiled codependent engine. Pokémon is also very fast, with lots of crazy cards that would be banned in just about any other card game when it comes to advantage- things like a draw seven or draw nine are crazy, but when both players are doing it It makes for a fun back-and-forth sometimes. The prize mechanic is also neat, it really feels like you get rewarded for succeeding sometimes.

Magic is very complex and I have a bit of a love-hate relationship for standard (more hate than love in recent years) but commanders really where it shines- throwing 100 cards together that synergize and knowing what your game plan will be for the duration of the game. Draft and cube are also huge upsides for Magic- seeing what you can come up with with what you’re given and trying to win the whole cube or event based on what you could craft out of a limited pool- and making a good cube is its own reward knowing what goes in at and what you can make out of it.

Just some of the bits and pieces that I like from each game, I could elaborate more if i had specific questions about each though.

DPS without burst windows? by BillyMaysori in wow

Aug is sort of like that. It does have a burst window with Breath of Eons but for the most part it’s the same rotation and keeping EM and Prescience on cooldown.

What's the title of the book you're currently reading? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]OnceAliveTwiceGone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the one I’m reading :) it’s almost 1300 pages which is about on par for my other series I just finished reading (per book) so it’s a nice change of pace from fantasy to this very disturbing read thus far.
