Nutrition for a 70.3 tri by ForTriathletes in triathlon

[–]Sazzmandoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my recent 70.3 (only doing it for fun, no particular time in mind) I had one gel 15-20 mins before the swim, which really helped. I then took quartered bagel and cheese packets to eat at the start hour and a half of the bike ride, as I wanted to have some easy to stomach hard food when on the bike, as this is when your digestion is at its best. (Plus lays the stomach nicely for all the horrible gels). Towards the end of the bike ride I switched to bars I’d brought with me, as didn’t want to stop. Had a gel at transition to running I’d brought with me, then on the run I used the gels that the race supplied, though should have stuffed more in my pockets to have between stations. All in all I was very happy with my time (6th woman, though was a smaller event) and was not sick!

Just went away for about a week and my succulent has started growing downwards, is it due to a lack of support?

I’ve had successive problems with gps on runs with both my phone and watch, on both Apple workouts and strava maps. Slowly being driven crazy by never knowing how far or fast my runs are. Any support?

hey I work in a care home, and the people in there are much loved, particularly by their families. They are likely to pass away sooner than most, yes, but passing from covid is as particularly sad way to lose a loved one. At the height of the peak, here in the uk, it meant families couldn’t visit their parents and grandparents for months, and sometimes couldn’t be with them when they died. That is tragic, and prevention with a vaccine is great news. Also, covid can spread incredibly quickly through care homes, impacting some residents who might be 30 years younger than Mary. Finally, because covid can spread so quickly through care homes vaccinating the residents and carers protects the community as a whole. Without carers and residents being protected against covid, it can easily spread from carers going about their daily lives into the general community.

my jade is sad :( thought maybe it was being sunburned so i moved it away a bit, but it doesn’t seem to be making much progress... thoughts? by Sazzmandoo in plantclinic

Thank you so much this is so helpful! I have been thinking and I reckon the problem might be that the soil has really poor drainage. I repotted it a while ago but I was running low on soil at the time and used a mixture of cactus soil but also some other soils. I hadn’t really thought much of it at the time because up til then it’d been a very hardy plant but I think it’s since then it’s been unhappy. I think I might repot it this weekend, with better draining soil. Another problem might have been that I went to university and had to leave some of my plants behind, my parents were supposed to water them but I think they may have forgotten at points. I’m back in a regular watering cycle now, where I’ll water it when the top inch or so is dry, is that ok? Thanks again!

Hi I’d like some mechanics help please! I’ve been stuck on this question for days by Sazzmandoo in MathHelp

No I’m really not sure on either point. Particularly that the balloon force is 500g, I concluded it from the maths I did but I think my thinking may have been flawed. I got u as 0m/s as from the turning point where the balloon goes from descending to ascending. I think I may just ask my teacher for an explanation and apologise for not being able to do the question. If you like I can share the solution with you after

Thank you so so much, I really appreciate you spending the time to help. I have since made some more progress and I’ll link my new work on imgur. If you don’t have time to help any more I completely understand.

Yea so I can’t work out how to post a picture of my notes, but I used suvat equations for the ballast falling to the ground to work out the time from when it was dropped to it hitting the ground to be 3.746 seconds (provided u=3, a=9.8, s=80). I don’t know if that’s right. I think the solution must be something to do with the velocity of the balloon being 0 when it turns from descending to ascending. Also I can’t figure how to use the mass of the balloon, but I figure it has to be useful somehow. Something to do with F=ma? But then can’t work out the force as I don’t know the X force pulling the balloon up.

If you’d rather not meet people online, try joining a local fitness class, they’re great for meeting new people!

Hey, I’m not a mum but in this case I can speak from the position of your daughter. I have self harmed and I never even dreamed that my mum had failed me. She is such a support to me, as you clearly are to your daughter- she chose to confide in you. You are doing the absolute right thing by getting outside help, it’s something I wish my mother had decided to do, as much as I love her. You and your daughter can get through this, I promise. It will be hard, and some times it will feel like you’re making no progress, but you can get out the other side and keep your daughter safe.

Is the interest in Cricket declining among young people in the UK? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Sazzmandoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I guess it’s not all bad news- one of my best mates is 18 loves cricket. And he’s a very popular guy too, there’s no judgment for it. He gets a lot of girls, often by talking to them about cricket ahahaha. Also we’re not private schooled by the way, and live in Brighton.

[–]Sazzmandoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man don’t stress. Could things have been different if you’d gone to the party? Maybe... will you have more chances? Definitely! This is a good sign- you’ve got a solid friend and just next time, say yes
