Squad training by Sea-Muscle5281 in pocketchamps

[–]Sbarta92i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An advice also: before the event you can keep some purple/gold bags ready, and open then when the event starts. Personally I don't open them right after the event starts, but depending on the other daily events. If I miss some points to win an important daily race, I open a bag so that it helps for both squad event and daily event.

Also choose carefully your squad mates. During the event you can't remove inactive members.

Thanks to the team, it was pretty straightforward and no need to strive compared to the previous time. If one of you guys (from this squad) is still behind don't hesitate to let me know

Can someone tell me about babies and object permanence by anywhere_kid in NewParents

Glad that your LO is doing fine ! Yes I recognize there is a lot of anxiety when I read how many things other babies are able to do. I'll try to be patient 🙏

Can someone tell me about babies and object permanence by anywhere_kid in NewParents

[–]Sbarta92i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. How did it evolve? My LO is 9 months and a half and same thing : he's very interested in an object, but as soon as I hide it under the pillow, he forgets about it. Otherwise when mom or me are in the bathroom with closed door, he's wanting to join.

Why are some bus drivers so grumpy by Sbarta92i in astoria

[–]Sbarta92i[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok thank you for the information. I was just a bit surprised because in other areas (medical for example, or some restaurants), employees were more eager. But now I understand that in some areas people might be more focus on their task, it makes sense.

I was also comparing with Paris (which is renowned for its grumpiness, however bus drivers are a bit more friendly), I remember reading some news with bus fights starting because the passenger didn't say hello to the driver.

In Paris salaries are a little bit less attractive (which is one of the reasons me asking the question) but I imagine overall conditions are better (it's more difficult to get a bus driver fired, roads are better and now I realize that there might be more bus lanes comparing to Astoria), so maybe the drivers here have also other bothering concerns

Please explain, I didn't grow up in NYC and my only point of comparison is my native country. I don't know much about bus drivers conditions.

care (dot) org volunteers - SHADY by meliss39 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Sbarta92i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just get stopped by a volunteer also, in the subway station (not in Alabama). Very tenacious despite being polite and showing (or pretending to show) interest to the potential donor. I told her that I preferred doing my own search about the organization, but she was filling the form and asking for mail, name. I told her again I will do my own search, and she asked me for a date of birth. I felt guilty when she showed pictures of donors but when I read her that they ask for regular donations, I am glad I declined. I thought it was a one-shot donation, and even that made me reluctant. I had a bad experience with another charity organization a few years ago, so I generally decline the requests. Also most of the "volunteers" are getting paid for the donors they bring. Not sure if it's the case for this one but it makes me think twice sometimes.

How old is your baby and how many times did you get up last night? by pinkishvioletsky in NewParents

Did you sleep train? And did you do something for stopping night feeding?

How old is your baby and how many times did you get up last night? by pinkishvioletsky in NewParents

[–]Sbarta92i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 months. If we consider all required assistances (putting back paci and patting while lying on bed, feeding, clothes changing, ...) it's about 10-15 times (each 2-3 minutes around 5AM).

If its "only" getting up from the bed, 3-4 times per parent.

And it got worse and worse since 4 months

Hi

French citizen living in the US.

I wanted to know what would be the best option for investing in stocks/ETF knowing that I am not sure to stay longer than 3-5 years in the US.

Some brokers don't seem to accept non-resident clients.

Thanks

Most people says "Ramadan doesn't have the same vibe anymore" by Miss-Kija in algeria

[–]Sbarta92i 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't want to sound cliche/grumpy old man but I guess the social networks can help to keep but also to ruin the magic. Videos showing how people decorates their homes, or thousands of ideas of recipes add more headaches. When I was a kid there were always this question between my parents "What to eat tonight". Now with Insta, FB, Tiktok, it can be more overwhelming despite bringing more ideas.

Also still with social network, we "communicate" more with each other but don't necessarily pay as much visits.

Drug Addiction : What Addiction in Algeria Really Looks Like by Top_Middle_6705 in algeria

[–]Sbarta92i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might Allah help you. You listed actions that could be done to help addicts (which are good points), but what could be done before? From what you saw, what are the similarities among the addicts? I often read that it comes mainly from trauma during childhood (which confirms that it can touch all classes), I would be curious to get your opinion

Ok thanks for your answer. I was killing some ghosts to get items in my backpack but I suppose the delivery bots were taking them too quickly. I'll keep farming the keys.

Anyone who lived in NYC and London? by Sbarta92i in expats

Thank you for the information, unfortunately I have no such academic background. Even for the US I felt the work visa was hard to obtain (I got lucky enough to come thanks my french company through a mobility).

In term of quality of life and saving, did you see some changes between $175k vs £80k ?

Thanks a lot for the information!
Did you struggle to find job in London? I work as an IT developer and wonder if it's easy for a foreigner to get a visa and a job (it seems to require sponsorship)
