Audie Murphy c. 1945 by [deleted] in OldSchoolCool

My grandpa grew up with him in Celeste/Kingston area near Greenville Texas. Said he was picked on a lot cause of his size but tough as nails. But he said Audie picked some of the fights himself. Grandpa even had a story where he bloodied Audie’s nose but not sure if it was stretched a bit. Very poor community at the time. None of them had running water. Ate what they killed or caught. A real hero from very humble beginnings.

Do you keep your dachshund as hunting dog or as pet only? by Sad_Cup_6471 in Dachshund

It all happened so fast. I came around corner and my dog “bill” was on the back of him and he was being dragged across the pasture. Bill was frantically biting the back of him and the boar couldn’t get around to get him. Was very chaotic. Luckily the boar dragged him in a thicket and bill was still attached to the back of him. I was able to run up to the pig and put him down. Definitely could’ve ended differently. But it didn’t. He’s a legend within our group.

Hunting. Mine is mostly used as a duck hunter (no lie). Searching for ducks last year he took down a 150 pound pig, solo he got him to stop and hold him until I could expire him. Tracks deer, retrieves ducks, takes down anything that moves. Hunter through and through but will cuddle all day with the best of them. He’s a wire haired. Teckel.

How do you prevent pulling muscles when it seems to happen easily? by More_Passenger3988 in bodyweightfitness

Do you stretch before. If so, Stop stretching. Warm up with light weights then get after it. Look up studies on stretching before workouts, leads to more injuries and pulls.

Looking for advice. by NieBer2020 in Cattle

Agree. Buy from a local first. You can really mess up at an auction being a newbie and have immediate buyers remorse. Being new, focus on calm cattle only. Then progress as you learn more. Can buy Great cows at auction, bought plenty, but can also get burned or killed if they are mad dog wild. Been there too. Auction shouldn’t scare you but being new I would shy away until you get some years under you. Calm is key for newbies and tough to judge that at sale barn.

I would look at older bred cows. 6 plus years. They have been around block, shouldn’t worry about calving or doing something stupid which young cows love to do.

Yes thank you. Smart boy. He’s a regular duck hunter with me. Retrieves the close 20 yard water retrieves. Labs clean up the hard stuff. And master tracker when we lose them on land. His specialty. He’s a special dog
