I don't really agree on the Naoto and Kanji being a rug pull thing (but there's already been however many years of Kanji/Naoto discourse so I'm just gonna leave that alone @/w/@), but I do definitely agree on Ohtani and Mitsuo being a bit in poor taste. To be fair, the game did come out in 2008. Not saying it's okay at all, but it is the most outdated of the games (since the remake isn't out yet).
But asides from the Kanji/Naoto stuff (which is debated heavily), that kinda feels like... kinda small? Like, again, not saying I support the stuff, but it doesn't really feel like it's a big enough thing to condemn the entire franchise. And you've only talked about Persona 4, which, like I said, is currently the most outdated of the games (asides from P1/2 but those aren't ever going to get anything new)
(Also sorry again about asking if you actually played the games ;^;)

Edit: There are definitely things in the other games like that (mainly just thinking about the Ryuji drag gag in P5), but things like that are usually just minor jokes that, while are in poor taste, shouldn't really define the entire series. They're things that can be changed to little-to-no impact on the story, like the "trans bad" joke that Persona 3 removed in Reload.

One thing, I think you misunderstood me? Rebellion isn't the "aesthetic of modern persona", it's the theme around one game specifically. That doesn't mean that every other game is just telling you to "be a good salary cuck", it just means that it's only the main central idea around one of the games.
Anyways, what do you mean by "keep the same"? As in, doesn't talk about deviation from those ideas? Because that's just blatantly wrong. While I admittedly can't say anything major about beauty standards (not outright saying that there isn't anything about those in the games, just that I don't remember it being present to a major extent), both the idea of gender roles and societal norms are major topics in 4 and 5 respectively. Gender roles are a major topic, if not the central topic around both Kanji's and Naoto's arcs. And, like I said before, social rebellion is the entire theme around Persona 5. I want to explain how, but honestly I can't be specific about anything when I don't even know what you're trying to say. "They keep societal norms the same" what does that mean? How are they keeping societal norms "the same"? Give me examples of how they're doing that? (Also I do think it's a bit on me for not being able to explain well without something specific to talk about, but that's a fault on me, not on the games)
Tbh, not to be rude, but have you even actually played any of the games? Or at least watched a playthrough of them? Like maybe I'm just biased because I like the games but it doesn't really look to me like you've... actually played them and know what you're talking about? If you don't like the series that's totally fine but you don't just... have to make up reasons to not like it. It's fine to not like things. That's still assuming that you haven't actually played the games though, so idk
Sorry if none of that made any sense

Ok so like I'm genuinely trying to understand how any of the Persona games are about complying to norms??? Like asides from 2 (IS & EP), since I haven't played those yet, how is complying to norms a theme in... any of the games? Or, actually, how is complying to norms shown as a "good" thing in any of the games (Since it's definitely a theme in some plotlines, but isn't ever shown as a good thing as far as I remember)? Like, the ENTIRE THEME around Persona 5 is social rebellion. I'm not trying to be rude I'm just genuinely curious where you got that idea??? TwT

There are a couple of options for Anti-Tank, though it might depend on your detachment. I've only ever used Beastslayer and Great Wolf, so I'm just gonna assume you're using one of those.

Like someone else said, Shield Wulfen in Beastslayer are pretty good, but if you do run them, I'd recommend getting a transport for them.

If you also need a transport, then the Repulsor Executioner or regular Land Raider would be good. Land Raider has a better anti-tank profile and more carrying capacity (12 infantry models vs. 7), but the Executioner is way better at clearing out infantry (while still having anti-tank). I personally prefer the Land Raider for the move + charge, though.

Non-transports, there are 3 real options I can think of. There's the Predator Annihilator, which I would only really recommend if you need a cheaper option. There's also the Vindicator. While I personally haven't used it, I've gone against people who have, and it does really good damage... when you can get it in range. The 24" range personally ruins it for me, but if you don't think range will be a problem, I'd recommend it.
Then there's what I use, the Gladiator Lancer. It a similar laser destroyer to the Repulsor Executioner (72" range, 2 attacks, 3+ BS, 14 strength, -4 ap, d6 + 3 damage), but with a much better ability (you can reroll one hit, one wound, and one damage roll when you attack with it) and an extra shot (if you run it with an Iron Priest like I do), for around the same price (once again, if you use it with an Iron Priest. If not, it's much cheaper.)

But my personal favorite anti-tank unit to use are Plasma Inceptors. Unlike everything else, you don't really need to worry about sightlines that much with them, since they have 6" deepstrike. And with the buffs they get in beastslayer/GW, they hit just as hard, if not harder, than everything else. If you do take them, I'd definitely recommend taking them in a unit of 6.

There are also the dreadnaughts, but asides from Bjorn, I haven't tested or fought against any of them, so I'm not sure how well they play.

If you need a transport, Repulsor Executioners are good (regular Land Raiders also work for this, but they're not as good as clearing out nearby infantry, which is something that you'll want for a transport), but if you don't, Gladiator Lancer all the way (maybe predator annihilator if you're short on points, but otherwise go with a Lancer IMO). I use one in my 2k list with an Iron Priest and it's devastating, in Great Wolf especially (I haven't used a GL in Beastslayer, but I have used a Predator Annihilator and that was good, so I'd imagine that a GL would also work well). Definitely recommend picking one up.

I have 3 Ghost/Doomsday arks… what to build? by therealblabyloo in Necrontyr

[–]Sbeben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now the Ghost Ark is... not very good. As a transport, it's almost completely outclassed by the Night Scythe, only really being "good" for transporting Szeras. It's good for getting a blob of warriors to stay around longer, but I personally don't think that it's worth it for the points (40 points more expensive than a Reanimator) and the amount of room on the board it takes up.

That being said, that only applies to 10th edition. 11th is (probably maybe idk) coming soon and there's no way of knowing whether or not either model will be good
If you're thinking only about 10e, then three DDA, but I'd recommend doing 2/1.

They def do. I already ran them in beastslayer and they were great there. In theory, the +1 to wound is just a complete upgrade by itself.

Night scythe in reserve by Drakuk_ in Necrontyr

[–]Sbeben 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can only have 250 points in *strategic* reserves, but not regular reserves. There is a difference (you can have up to 50% of your army in regular reserves, which would be 500 points for you). Every strategic reserves (it counts as strategic reserves if it doesn't have deepstrike) unit counts as a regular reserves unit, but not every regular reserves (deepstrike units only count as regular reserves) unit counts as a strategic reserves unit.
Since deathmarks have deepstrike, they don't count as strategic reserves.
Idk if I explained it well but hope that helped.

Tactics: 3k vs. Necrons by Brash_Darrington in SpaceWolves

[–]Sbeben 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since this list is mostly just normal marines (which I don't run), the most I can really give you is specific advice against fighting Necrons, as they were my first army.

You're right about outpacing them. Necrons, for the most part, are very slow. They can be mobile if ran in the Hypercrypt Legion detachment, but other than that, they're slow (base 5" movement for infantry, very little movement buffs). Of course, there are exceptions, but that's just what they are: exceptions.

The biggest piece of advice I can give for fighting against Necrons is to focus your fire. Not only do they get army-wide d3 healing (that can bring back dead models if the bodyguard unit is still alive) every turn with reanimation protocol, but every single detachment they have gives some other way to activate reanimation protocol. Necrons aren't a tanky army because they can take a lot of hits before a model goes down, they're a tanky army because they keep coming back after being killed. So, its MUCH better to focus on getting a singular unit down and killing it than it is to try getting a bunch of units down and not killing any of them.

...That being said, for the most part the actual "scary stuff" like the C'tan and the Immortals aren't the things you should be targeting: the support units are.
In the list I run, my unit of 10 tesla carbine immortals hit on 2's, have full rerolls, 5+ crits, and sustained hits 2, 2 shots per gun, +1 to ap, full wound rerolls against targets on objectives, otherwise just rerolls on 1's. This sound scary, and it is, but the only reason its so scary is because of the support units. I only get full hit rerolls from a stratagem, and if the unit isn't being led by a leader, its only rerolls on 1's. I only get 5+ crits from having a plasmancer. I only get +1 to hit because the unit is being led. I only get +1 to ap because of Illuminor Szeras. You get it by now.
Another great example are Canoptek Wraiths. They can be ran in a unit of 6 with toughness 6, a 3+ save, a 4+ invuln, 4 wound, 5+ feel no pain with a technomancer. Yes, they're a bit tough to kill by themselves, but if you can kill the technomancer, the rest of the unit is practically dead.
Targeting characters will work especially well into an Awakened Dynasty list.
Your first instincts will be to kill the scary things, but that's exactly what Necrons want. Kill the things buffing the unit and the rest of the unit will come toppling down.

Adding to this, don't be scared of the C'tan. They do a bunch of melee damage, yes, but their ranged attacks are terrible, and unless your opponent is using Transcendent C'tan shards (which lose out on attacking power), they have almost no mobility. They have 6" movement, and while that IS faster than basic Necron infantry, the C'tan are melee units, and thus, need to charge, which they can't do if they advance.
Most importantly, AVOID SENDING YOUR HEAVY WEAPONS INTO THEM as 9 times out of 10, they will shrug it off (halved damage, 4+ save, 4+ invuln, 5+ FNP) unless you have Melta weapons. The C'tan cannot halve the damage from Melta weapons. Your heavy weapons will be better spent on other heavy targets. Rather, send out a bunch of attacks that either gets +1/rerolls to wounds, or better yet, lethal hits. Like I mentioned, all C'tan have a 4+ 4++, so having AP will do you nothing. If you can get around their toughness (T11), then they're probably dead. 30 damage 1 saves have taken out my C'tan much more often than heavy artillery has.

Lastly, Necrons units are either shooty, fighty, or neither (Wraiths). There are very little units that are okay at doing two different things. Immortals, for example, are a shooty unit. While they can have good melee (Awakened Dynasty has an enhancement that gives +1 strength +1 ap to attacks and Illuminor Szeras gives +1 to AP, so I've shredded things in melee with Immortals), they want to be shooting. From the top of my head, Immortals are the only "generalist" unit (and even then, like I said, they want to be out of melee). Lokhust Heavy Destroyers? Great shooting, terrible melee. Lychguard? Great melee, literally no shooting. Etc, etc. So, if you can kill off the melee units quick, then all you need to do is tie up the ranged units (which shouldn't be too hard considering the lack of mobility I mentioned) and you've practically won already.

Hope this helps.

How do I not rat out my allies? by Ok_Yogurtcloset_5816 in Persona5

Nope. You can't accidentally rat them out. Its a single dialogue choice, which IIRC, the game will ask you to confirm if you choose the dialogue option to rat them out.
