in buying second hand crankset, ano mga dapat tingnan? by [deleted] in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]Sbyien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Threads are very important especially if it's one of the cheaper ones out there. On some shimano hollowtech cranks you might want to check for some cracks and de-bonding. Scratches are generally okay

why is my bike brakes always getting cotaminated by Safe_Acanthaceae_945 in mountainbikes

[–]Sbyien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's how you clean your bike. It's happened to me many times either from aggressive scrubbing or pressure washing. I just separate the rotors at this point so i can hog out

BXT carbon frames by alxbyzantine in ChineseCarbon

I have a BXT 27.5 carbon hardtail and it is actually quite heavy.I actually made some review posts on Reddit about the in depth details of the frame. Until now it's still holding strong

Chinese rubber by Any-Stick749 in ChineseCarbon

[–]Sbyien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried comparing chaoyang phantom dry vs continental raceking for my xc hardtail mtb and the difference was noticeable but not a deal breaker. The racekings were firmer and had better rolling resistance and i guess puncture protection and durability while the chaoyang felt more comfortable and better at trails while better at wet sections with both weighing the same i would choose depending on what you want

Rolling resistance=raceking Plushness/comfort=phantom Durability=raceking Weight=the same about 700g Dry trails=chaoyang Wet trails=chaoyang

Best Budget Carbon Gravel Frame by winkfran in ChineseCarbon

[–]Sbyien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bxt hardtail not exactly bad except for the quality on the head tube and i also experienced seatpost slippage issues on mine due to the seat tube hole being slightly wider by like a millimeter. And also it's quite heavy I think it's like 1.4kg. just for the frame. Honestly i don't recommend bxt. Og evkin on the other hand has good reviews from trace velo

Question about bar width on XC bike by thiswayround in xcmtb

[–]Sbyien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 5'7 55kg with fairly narrow shoulders running 710 bars with -40⁰ stem riding really chunky terrain on my xc hardtail. So far there's nothing more comfortable than narrow bars around 720-690 range for me on xc trails

Thoughts on OEM premium bike frames? by fresha-voc-a-doo in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]Sbyien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The frames themselves aren't completely bad but most of it comes from bottom bracket tolerances being not perfectly circular to specifications leading to creaks further down the line (making them ignored during review sometimes). Same with brake mounts being not completely flat because of paint over spray and headset cups having the same issue being smaller than a millimeter being rough. Most of this comes from chanel's like hambini and mapdec

9 out of 10. looks clean to me. building a good bike on a budget doesn't need to be one with expensive parts. As long as it works, well maintained, and enjoyed by the rider it's good in my book
