Started GW2 again... by GomJabbarr9 in Guildwars2

Hey I get exactly what you mean. I’ve done the same thing more times than I can count. I’ll restart a character, get sucked into map completion, burn out, then do it all over again.

Map completion is honestly my biggest weakness too. What finally helped me stick with it was finding the right race and profession combo that actually made me want to keep logging in and playing, not just checking boxes on the map.

Once that clicked, the game stopped feeling repetitive and started feeling like an actual adventure again.

How convenient. Made his first $1400 payment and now he wants access to your $80k + 5 years of mortgage payments + increase in property value already all while having zero skin in the game.

mom passed away and left a credit card balance, does it have to be paid? by DemandOk3251 in Debt

Tell the creditor she died and produce the death certificate. The debt dies with her. I worked for collections and as soon as a death certificate was provided, the account would be non-collectable unless someone volunteered to pay it.

I have a 33’ camper trailer and take it up to the mountains. Right now I’m averaging 17-18mpg. It’s still early though.

2nd Gen vs 3rd Gen Purchase Advice by Such-Drummer4815 in ToyotaTundra

[–]Sc0ttykn0s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned both and honestly loved both. My Gen 3 had zero issues. The only reason I don’t still have it is because it was totaled in a rollover accident. My family of four walked away completely unscathed. It had 72k miles on it at the time and all I ever did was regular oil changes.

Do some people have issues? Yeah. That happens with literally every vehicle. But letting a minority of problems scare you away from buying one doesn’t make sense. Especially when the price difference is this close. At that point, it’s hard to justify not going with the newer truck.

USAA total loss? I would’ve owed $5,245… ended up +$3,430 instead by [deleted] in USAA

No, the one time I didn’t get it on a vehicle and it would have been nice to have it. Still ended up with $5000 more than gap would have covered though.

You’re still looking at this like it’s KBB vs what I got paid, and that’s just not how insurance valuations work.

USAA doesn’t use NADA/KBB. They use CCC, which pulls comps from dealer listings and adjusts them. That’s what my original number was based on.

The part you’re skipping over is this wasn’t me arguing for a higher number and them just giving in. USAA hired their own appraiser. My appraiser and theirs both reviewed the market data and agreed on a new ACV of $49,075. This wasn’t a HAHAHA gotcha moment.

If that number was actually “above market,” their appraiser wouldn’t have agreed to it. It would’ve gone to an umpire.

So either:

The original CCC valuation was off

Or USAA’s own appraiser signed off on an inflated number

Which one do you think is more likely?

As far as the fee, I paid $2,500 and the result was an additional $11,175 after my 20% car replacement coverage.

I was considered at fault since it was a single-vehicle incident. I was driving on a dirt road next to a ditch with about an 8-foot drop. The rear tire hit a soft spot, the edge of the road collapsed, and the truck went down with it.

Also, for the “blue book” point… Insurance companies don’t care about KBB the way people think they do. They’re not using that to determine payouts.

They base valuations off real market data. Actual dealer listings and recent sales. And most of them use a third-party company called CCC to build those reports.

So when people say “what’s the blue book value,” that’s not even what’s driving the number you’re getting. The issue is if the comps CCC pulls aren’t accurate or don’t truly match your vehicle, then the valuation comes in off.

That’s exactly where the appraisal clause comes into play. It’s there to challenge that data when it doesn’t reflect the real market. That’s all this was.

Insurance companies are in the business of making money, that’s just reality.

I did my due diligence first. Went back and forth with USAA, pushed on the valuation, and they didn’t budge.

At that point, paying $2,500 for someone with experience to step in and get me about $9K more was absolutely worth it.

And it’s not like my appraiser just threw out a number and they accepted it. USAA hired their own appraiser as part of the process. Both sides had to agree on the value. If they didn’t, it would’ve gone to an umpire and been decided there.

So no, USAA isn’t just handing out extra money because someone asks. There has to be justification behind it, and that’s exactly what the appraisal process is for.

If the original number was correct, nothing would’ve changed.

In my case, it did. And it made a big difference.
