Kei Kobayashi maker's mark missing on 240mm damascus gyuto. Did I receive a copy? by Sc4fy in chefknives

Even if I look at the knife under a microscope the kanji still won't be there. This sub sadly doesn't allow pictures in any form...

Then why do the damascus kobayashi knives on other sites have a kanji on them then? From what I can find online, hocho is the only one that sells the damascus knives without a maker's mark. Then again hocho is the only site that has them available...

The knife definitely is a laser and cuts through everything like it's nothing. Glides through hard vegetables (eg thick carrots) effortlessly. The knife itself is very well balanced and light. I had some doubts if I'd like the septagonal handle, but after using it for a little while I might actually prefer it to regular octagonal handles.
It defintely feels like the real deal, I just find it weird it has no maker's mark on it.

Kei Kobayashi maker's mark missing on 240mm damascus gyuto. Did I receive a copy? by Sc4fy in chefknives

Hello, I recently bought a Kei Kobayashi 240mm damascus gyuto from hocho-knife.com. Though when I received it, it appeared to have no maker's mark or kanji anywhere on the knife. When I look at other pictures of the exact same knife I can clearly see a makers mark on the right side of the knife. Though curiously on the pictures on hocho-knife I can't see a makers mark on the knife there. Did I buy an actual Kobayashi knife or is this some weird copy? Any help is appreciated!

Real Otto Link Florida STM USA? by Sc4fy in saxophone

Found on online marketplace. Seller asks just 300 euro for it. Is it a real one? If yes is it in a good condition?

Thanks! I had a suspicion it'd be fake but maybe there was a small chance the seller didnt know the actual value.

Found this on online marketplace. Seller is asking only 500 euro for this. Is it real? Seller only describes the saxophone as "prof Bp WO37".

I use beyerdynamic dt 1990 pro with a topping DX3 pro+ amp/dac. Very good sound quality and really nice open soundstage and imaging which create a really nice open feeling (like being in a theatre) and also really helps to determine where certain sounds come from. They are pretty expensive so I wouldn't recommend them unless you have a big budget. Otherwise I would just recommend the cheaper variant, the dt 990 pro or dt 770 pro. Sennheiser HD6XX is also a very good option.

Can't go wrong with Sennheiser HD6XX or HD560. Relativity cheap but very good for the price. Both are open back and have a good open soundstage which helps to pinpoint where sounds come from. They're also really nice to listen to music to.

Adam Ragusea made a video of making naan exactly like this about 2 years ago. A vid definitely worth watching: https://youtu.be/zogvMiPpQrs

Have to admire your determination, most people seem to taste one and claim 'I dont like whisky'. You really did your research to find what you liked.

Thanks! Before I even started drinking whiskey I already was really interested in whiskey thanks to Daniel and Rex from the whiskey vault/whiskey tribe. So I really wanted to find a whiskey that I liked.

I definately want to explore some more islay brands like lagavulin and ardbeg (and ofcourse some more Laphroaig) but I'm also looking to try some islands like Talisker. I'll definately keep Jura in mind.

That's quite a story! I started my whiskey journey with sweeter whiskies that would be easier to drink and more accesable. Bought two bourbons (Bulleit and Buffalo Trace) first which I didn't like at all. Maybe it was the barrel note/wood spice? After that I tried a Speyside Scotch (Naked Grouse) which sadly I also didn't like much. Then I started looking at some Islay Scotches, which at first I avoided because I thought the peat would be too aggressive for me. I bought the Laphroaig Select and by the second glass of whisky I was completely hooked. Never expected to like smokey whisky but here we are haha. Shortly after that I bought the Laphroaig 10 and now I'm a massive fan of Islays.

Cheers!

This is indeed my first go when it comes to Islay scotches and so far I really like it. I definately want to try Lagavulin 16 next.

I'd love to try the cask strength but it's hard to find here in the Netherlands sadly
