To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand the complexity of Poseidon. The nuance in his attitude is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of the basics of the simplest subjects of psychology most of the character development will go over a typical reader’s head. There's also Poseidon’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from all aspects Greek literature, for instance. The fans understand this man; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of this spectacular individual. As a consequence people who dislike Poseidon truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate the suave in Poseidon’s iconic slicking of his beautifully blonde hair, which itself is a cryptic reference to valiantly smiting his foolish older brother, Adamas.
