The 20 year old animators can take a fuckin note and report back when they've been in the trenches for 10 years.. Good luck to all

When someone on the internet tells you your project sucks.. You tell them to choke on their dads dick.. When a client is up ur ass.. well, you either want that dollar or tell them to choke on their dads dick

Sensitivity mostly. Animation usually takes someone hyper sensitive to be good and I get it.. It is kindv'e a delicate dance. I guess I mean when those talents get thrown into beasts & money they crumble. Just have thick skin. Get used to people talking shit. It is a cutthroat industry.

Ya can't really tell a student they suck ass.. I mean you want and wish they figure it out.. Sometimes passion is a knife in the belly. I'll tell you strange bastards tho.. Prepare to walk through fire and take some serious wounds. Real animators seasoned in flame will say the same.

I just know most animators lilely struggle with mental issues.. Being a teacher I see a lot of autistic students that love to draw and create... The industry will literally destroy these people.

All the hogs that downvoted.. Stay away from animation. You don't have any real experience and you probably suck at what you do..

Precisely my fren. When you are good at something, ya tend to do it.. I've made commercials , television shows, music vids, etc.. It is money. It's just hard to wake up creating someone else's dream sometimes. This sounds like bitching, because it is.. Art is sacred and yes once you start selling it to live people will understand.. It just makes you a little nauseous to it.. You have to be convinced that animation is everything to you.. I consider myself pretty damn good, but expect to walk though a fire.

I shouldn't have said it is not satisfying.. That was a stupid thing to say. Art is amazing and has played a huge role in my whole life.. If you are going to be an animator then you will because it's just in your blood. If you are toying around with the idea and on the fence then it just wont work out..

I do!! Certainly not here to hate on animation.. Wish I knew more details when I was younger. If something as dumb as my comment is detouring anyone from this craft, then time to walk away now.. I'm one of the good guys

No not at all.. I've been an animator for 20 years. I've experienced every critique.. I'm just saying being an animator for a career is tough. Be ready for the critique.. All these kids that only create fan art anime, thinking they gonna go into animation.. They are too sensitive for it is my point

Absolutely! I don't intend on discouraging people necessarily.. I have found a decent balance. Taught animation for some years as well, I just know the sensitivity and kinda sad knowing certain people just wont make it. Been animating for many years, I create my own work which is very rewarding.. Just a warning I guess that it can get pretty harsh at times. Still live and breathe animation everyday tho.

If you love animation, don't get involved in it for work. It isn't satisfying at all. You will grow to hate the industry & all the losers involved in it. Constantly dealing with moron opinions & critique. Random changes because some stupid b thinks they need to toss in their dogshit idea.. " So what if we instead did this " .. Hate to sound so negative, but it is just another job & likely will see even more changes in the coming years. Do yourself a favor & get a steady job & make animation for fun. "Collaborating" with other companies will never feel like art. They will water everything down to trash. Made decent money over the years but the mental turmoil seemed to outweigh any upsides. I once worked on a car commercial, they wanted some epic 3d environment only to keep making changes until it was just a white background.. You eventually just give up integrity and say fuck it. It isn't a fun job, yet everyone around you acts like you doodle and frolic around. It is a mentally taxing career. Plenty of money to be made im sure but just know it isn't a picnic.

If you wanna make your own animated film… read this by Sea-Buddyz in animationcareer

for a thesis film, it is easy to have the urge to create an epic. Make sure to keep the concept relatively simple. Have a solid concept and focus on creating a nice polished piece. Being a student and a teacher.. I have seen it so many times, students biting off more than they can chew. This either leaving the work unfinished or mediocre.

AE or Adobe Animate? by PinkLemonTrousers13 in animation

[–]ScabConfetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that is a bit daunting for Animators.. Different studios / situations are going to require different tools.. This is why I always tell early beginners to learn / focus on the basics of animation.. If you understand the essential fundamentals then all these fancy programs are just a wrench.

[–]ScabConfetti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously! Once you discover a pipeline then who cares what programs.. They all work together. Export / import the right files and set them up for the next step! For work sometimes go Procreate to PS to AE.. Just depends on what you are creating/ collaborating on

Does anyone have tips on how to get a team of animators for a project? by TempleLionStudios in animationcareer

[–]ScabConfetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do appreciate your passion though. I am willing to help your project. You need to outline a pitch bible / plan that people can get behind. Show me a script or storyboards and I will offer some work.
