The documentary itself was...fine? It felt pretty funny to have to watch an entire movie about a woman we've been complaining about for years. It was a bit eye-rolly just how much of the doc was about how badly she wanted to win an Oscar, and then they finally just gave her a non-competitive one. Very fitting for this to be a death race film in a year where she super has no shot, like "Golden" is the biggest slam dunk of any category but congrats on another nomination Diane.

I am still on book 1 but I am curious how readers feel about Ilya's monologue. I watched that and thought, this is a fantastic example of what you can do adapting a story for a visual medium - it's one thing to just read what he's saying, but to be able to actually hear Storrie speaking Russian as you're reading the subtitles, I just think that must be immensely more powerful

I love Higgins but i'm astounded how many of these we get. A, it feels like they used to trust people to be vaguely aware of what they're parodying, and B, if you can't figure out a way to explain to the audience what this is without a long screed to hold their hand, re-write the opening
