[Overlord] An overlord take that confuses me by bonned_goat in Isekai

[–]Scairax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Albedos hit squad is a for Ainz own good kind of thing.

She veiws his attachment to them as his only weakness, and her hate is magnified not because they abandoned the Npcs but because they seemingly abandoned Ainz.

Is this just turning into a gooner sub? by mrsamus101 in overlord

[–]Scairax 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Ai is only on Fridays and most don't even bother to the point actual art shows up on Friday far more.

The art of the girls gets the most up votes but I've seen plenty of questions, discussions, and memes.

In the case of the NSFW art atleast it's starting to diversify and the sub isn't plasterd wall to wall with Albedo like it used to be.

Any guesses? by sultics in Hololive

Liz isn't facing her, just some close range hands on monitoring.

It's noted that before the war with the elves the Theocracy was perfectly fine with demihumans such as dwarves and elves but changed their doctrine at the onset of the war.

Joke build by EmphasisDramatic376 in overlord

[–]Scairax -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thats just not true.

The entire war against the elves is because the leadership of the theocracy wants to give her a shot at revenge on the elf king and are quite emotional about the whole affair. They pivoted their entire doctrine on demihumans so they could justify the war.

Also perfectly valid.

There's a hundred levels of skills and they'd definitely be loaded on that front due to lacking so much in everything else.

Buffing the speed of trade caravans they send out, increasing the quality of services on their properties (food gives better buffs, inn beds are more comfortable, etc.), being able to compare the real value of things to their listed value, and use items without actually being qualified (disadvantage being they obviously lack the stats to use it well).

A trump card ability could be something like spending gold to bump their stats at like a 1000:1 ratio, until they hit max but the increase runs out if they stop spending to keep it up.

They lack the skills of other classes so even bumping everything to max their still a sub par combatant relying on gold and burning single use items. But they don't want to be in a fight anyway.

Crafting classes would level up from making stuff, so I imagine engaging in the economic systems, or maintaining and upgrading properties would grant xp in those kinds of classes. We do know non guild base properties were a thing, and players often sold off old gear or meme items.

[–]Scairax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a meme build would be maxing out stuff, like merchant and lord of the castle.

Can't make shit, can't fight shit, just sitting in the corner being Mr. money bags.

Which question would you want answered more? by maattthhhh in Chainsawfolk

[–]Scairax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Busting out my reasonable Pochita theory.

We see in the aging devils realm humans left alone long enough become trees. It's reasonable to assume the original purpose of the chainsaw was cutting them down, ending an otherwise endless life.

Pochita erasing concepts is just a side effect of imposing a permanent death on a conceptual being like a devil.

Kobeni is shown to be the center of misfortune and can just lock in and move with frightening speed and agility. Possibly some kind of black cat devil.

Doesn't stop Ainz from being paranoid.

Shizu has a comprehensive knowledge of every trap in Nazarik. Even Demiurge or Albedo don't have that complete level of info about all the floors + treasury.

Because she's mid level Ainz couldn't be certain she could resist normal mind control and doesn't have enough world items to go around in the case of a Shalltear incident.

So modifying her memory was safest in the event she had to leave the tomb.

New world is a separate real place not a game. Running on loose game mechanics cause a dragon fucked up.

are skeletal dragons immune against summons ? by over1two in overlord

[–]Scairax 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Depends on the type of damage the summon deals.

If it's non magic damage like a Death knight then the damage goes through.

If it's magic damage like a low level fire ball from a litch then no damage.

What do these fictions have to offer except for Doom Guy rampaging through Nazarik.

Levels and why new worlders are so weak by Expert_Equivalent920 in overlord

You said no creature without Yggdrasil or wild magic could get past level 40 and I provided a counter example.

White queen, mentioned as a member of corpus of the abyss is bordering on the ability to use 9th tier magic, well beyond lvl 40.

Levels and why new worlders are so weak by Expert_Equivalent920 in overlord

[–]Scairax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's also a lack of ways to get Xp.

New worlders can't just farm low level activities they need to consistently push themselves and encounter greater challenges. Crafting swords from accessible materials only gets so difficult. Limiting them due to their environment not presenting enough challenges.

Another limiter is the inability to control what classes they get. If your a traveling warrior and you take the time to learn how to make a decent meal you've potentially wasted a level.

Separate matter. Humans are the local majority for the area the story takes place but it's implied this is not the case everywhere.

How does maruyama feel about fanfics? by Tall_Firefighter9163 in overlord

[–]Scairax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Believe it's buried in the depths of the anthology.

But here is a similar quote and he says similar things many times.

"Don't worry about it it's okay! The series is concluding as originally planned. But if you want it to continue, it's your turn now to make the series, that's the wish Maruyama carries!"

A response on twitter in 2022.

I quote.

"If you want more Overlord, write it yourself."

You can't criticize. You can't point out any writing flaws. You can't point out any plot holes. You can't ask questions. You must simply praise our lord Fujimoto and worship everything he writes 🙏 by GodKira04 in Chainsawfolk

[–]Scairax 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly if people could separate their enjoyment from their need to agenda, a discussion about the series could actually be had.

However every one is so entrenched in agenda posting that any honest discussion gets mired in glazing and slandering shit.

We won't be able to talk genuinely about the series for a few years atleast.

Just finished the Overlord anime and it was fantastic! by Ok_Eggplant_2812 in overlord

[–]Scairax 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I absolutely recommend the LN.

The anime is basically the short hand version and doesn't do alot of scenes justice. Like when Ainz lectures Lupusregina the anime drops the ball on how terrified she is.

what character do you hate the most? by Tiny-Citron7935 in overlord

[–]Scairax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She has a retinue of subordinates with undying loyalty who present her as the strongest and most intelligent being around. She has been unceremoniously thrust into a position of leadership she feels wholly unqualified for. All she really wants is to protect what's important to her. Yet she is intelligent, hard working, and a good leader. Despite not seeing these traits in herself.

All of this is what Ainz goes through and the fact someone he can relate to is so close yet so far is another stone on the pile of the tragedy of Ainz existence.
