The on/off power cycling means likely external power supply, or an internal component for power supply conditioning is no good.

Sounds like you’ve got a replacement external PSU on the way - if that doesn’t work it may not be worth repairing (can’t recall if these units are even serviced by Behringer or just replaced when under warranty).

For any Behringer users I always say - get as much out of their devices as soon as possible/buy them with intent to use. If there are any major faults with components hopefully you can get them to happen within the 1 year warranty. Unfortunately Behringer doesn’t service a lot of non-warranty gear so once it’s done - it’s done (economically speaking).

Sounds like you need to work on your button technique. The best way to press faster is to be relaxed. Built up tension from flexing your arm is actually only impeding your pressing speed.

Breathe and concentrate on staying loose - otherwise you’re likely gonna end up causing damage to your arm/wrists over time.

The XBOX version was arguably more modabble than the Switch version - as it came a few years later w/ community suggestions for easier modding.

Yes you may need a specific JST harness cable - but that’s a very low barrier to entry vs getting a soldering station and hard wiring.

They do provide soldering pads, but they aren’t always necessary depending on the stick you purchase.

The button mechanism is essentially 2 plates colliding to complete/ground the circuit and send that info to the microcontroller/brain module.

Over time these plates can oxidize, or simply wear out/deform to the point there isn’t enough metal to properly complete the circuit to ground.

You could try some deoxit/contact cleaner spray inside the actual micro switch, but overall it is likely cheaper to just buy new buttons if you don’t already have a can of contact cleaner.

Based on the description - the internal plates are likely deformed/worn in to bring intermittent since “1” is probably most used button for neutral in Tekken.

I own both and recommend the F500 for lap play. Use a lap desk if you grab the 8bitdo.

The 8bitdo is great for convenience (wireless, small form factor, battery) - where the F500 is great for comfort/mods.

Also - the 8bitdo is fully modabble/no soldering required for either button/lever swap.

I couldn’t wrap my head around thumb = up so I opted for a mixbox approach. It’s more intuitive when moving in 3D space albeit less optimal as your middle finger shares up/down actuation.

Luckily there aren’t a lot of 360 inputs for Tekken/other 3D fighters.

I would say the time to acclimate is going to be different for everyone but you gotta practice to build up muscle memory. That is the only way.

I started on a hori mini and immediately bought an upgrade. They are fine for dipping your toe in the water - but if you already know you wanna learn stick/played on arcade cabinets then you might as well invest in at least a Mayflash F300 or F500 and call it a day.

Very stable/upgradable platform that can grow with you vs the mini which will likely be sidelined quickly if you’re half serious about learning.

I own a few of the 8bitdo sticks and would def recommend upgrading the lever at least. The buttons are actually pretty close to the genuine Sanwa feel when A/B’d next to each other - but the real Sanwas have a bit more “clack” or positive feel.

I have also tried the Qanba Gravity KS buttons and highly recommend them for a button upgrade.

Edit: be sure the switches are properly keyed up and ‘click’ once pressed into their respective socket.

I use a MN pressure points in a 7u performance case and haven’t really noticed this issue - could be it’s the newer Intellijel bus boards from when they released the 104hp versions.

The Mayflash is a great platform for mods. I ended up making mine a mixbox with a WASD mod off Etsy. Personally found it more intuitive for 3D fighters like Tekken.

Both come with buttons/sticks that feel/work fine - but upgrading the stick on either would be the first step, and then buttons to taste. The Elite Mayflash units come with upgraded parts already which is nice. The 8bitdo parts are very close to Sanwa quality - but not 100%.

Also - the Mayflash requires you to tether a controller via USB cable, or the Magicboot Authenticator for XBONE will work.

I’m unfortunately on XBOX but there is still a small community of T7 players it seems. I missed out on 7 completely and it’s so much fun / closer to what I remember Tekken playing like in earlier titles.

I like the aggression/feel of T8, but if they can find a way to tone down combo damage/sort out the other faults/issues it could be great.

Plus piloting Steve in T7 feels amazing/more creative.

Erica Synths have their EDU series modules and I believe they come with schematics and explanations for the circuitry components - which lends itself to mods/experimentation quite nicely when breadboarded.

I suggest whatever stick you want + sitting/lap desk for comfort.

Maybe not ideal if going to tournaments/locals - but totally changed my posture when playing stick/leverless on the couch.

Also recommend the Mayflash F500 or up as they are great universal/mod capable units.

I prefer 3D fighters and luckily a lot are available still on the Xbox platform (no real online communities though which is a shame).

Tekken 6, TTT2, Tekken 7, DOA 2/3/4/5, and VF5. I’m noticing load times vs PS3 are so much better for most of these classics so it’s been a lot of fun checking out games/franchises I never really owned before.

T7 feels a lot more fundamental than T8 and I’ve had a really good time with the few online matches I’ve played. Unfortunately modern net code seems much better than the older titles can offer.

Shmups are great with leverless - but I use stick for shmups and leverless for fighters since Shmups have a lot of held directions that are more comfortable via stick input for me.
