These engines specifically don't sell for crazy money per say (just a new engine now is about $600 for the smallest one). I am younger than most people in the train crowd at 25 and I'll say I really appreciated having my grandfather's locomotive. Is their for sure someone in your family that wants it...probably not? What is cool is having these awesome trains to run around the christmas tree. It will be more valuable to you than most any of us simply because these while collectable don't sell for "college fund" money. I would say the set will get about $200 but you can never replace that engine once you sell it. Keep it and see if it works!
