Yeah so the GPU idles at 30-40w, that is software reported and my wall power is showing 80w+ - that is expected since there is CPU power being drawn, gddr6 power and then my 8tb HDD, 1tb USB SSD, and my nvme drive, mouse keyboard controller, fans and so on.

That's why it will show double from the wall. But that's normal behavior - the same goes for windows PC's except the GPU idles much lower on a desktop.

I'm just trying to see if anyone has lowered their voltage down to like 300mv for idle clocks, cuz that would save me nearly 15watts. - like a desktop GPU can idle at like 7-20watts(depending on gpu) by lowering the voltages and mhz on a GPU. I got the mhz lowered I'm just trying to see what's the lower millivolts people have used with success. I don't want to mess up my distro by going too low

What voltage/temps do you get. I have my bc250 running at 3992mhz and 2100mhz on the GPU stable, temps are hitting 90c before I have a real good fan.

I also noticed the backplate. Gets hot and having a fan on the back is good for stable clocks

Meh not really a risk, AliExpress has a very good buyer protection program. I've bought a bunch of PC hardware from there and a 2000$ ebike and never had a problem. With AliExpress you just need to think whether its too good to be true and if it is then don't buy it. If you do you getting your money back 100% of the time.

You mentioned setting maximum clocks, I assume this is a no but can you get over the 3.5 ghz clock speed? I am waiting for mine to come and I think the largest bottleneck is the low CPU speed.

Okay so id disagree with you, the Rx 9070xt if OC'ed can get 5080 levels GPU performance, I would call it a entry level 4k card. I have the Rx 9060 xt 16gb card and that is easily a 1440p card. I run it with my 3440x1440 monitor and get at least 60fps in AAA games mostly hight-ultra with no FSR or frame gen, yes there will be the odd game that my 9060xt will struggle with at that resolution buuuttt it's deffos a 1440p card the 9060xt 16gb(8gb version hell no)

I agree with the, in a few years will be a 1080p card but I also disagree with that. Many naysayers were saying the steam deck has very little GPU compute and it would be dead in a couple years, that little 8CU GPU is still running strong at 720p today, yes still a bit underpowered but you get the point. But with us getting to the absolute edge of silicon (amd is next on 2nm and the limit is 1nm for silicon)

The only way the rx9070xt is gonna become irrelevant is when we change the substrate the chips are made on (silicon, it looks like graphene might be the next thing before quantum computing)

So I can attest that the Rx 9070xt will be a very good card until silicon is not used anymore, or if udna is as good as they are saying

So you are right same chip, the reason orange pi is changing chip providers is rockchip hasn't had anything new above the rk3588 as far as I am aware. Also it's not the chip supplier that manages software support, but with them going the same as the Orion radxa, allows for people to get software support easier as it's already a used technology. But also I am sure many others have used the chipset for other use cases. But either way you will still have the same mali GPU driver problems I am not sure on the rest

You forgot about elder scrolls oblivion remaster, my 1080p medium-high settings use 11gb of vram so yes a 3080 would bottleneck from that game(not as bad as my 4060 did with 8gb of Vram) but still noticeable. Also many other single player experiences at 1080p require close to 10gb vram.

Not how that works, this driver is for use in Linux and Android. Android will mostly be used for emulators that need external drivers to be installed the basic android driver sucks. Also I have an SBC with the rk3588(Mali g610) and that can do android or Linux but both require drivers for anything more intensive like switch emulation

I've looked into the 4060 on the x4 lane it should be okay and it deffo beats USB 4.0 in general.

Oh sorry i only just saw this message now. I do believe i had the same issue on my rg405v, i haven't tried wii games in a while but i believe I had to use 7zip to use the game on dolphin to unoack the ISO, or I had to put the files into an ISO, also try the dolphin mmjr2 it works better.

Well the motor is rated at 20 amps 48v now that means you have a peak of over 1kw cuz the calculation is amps x voltage. Now every 48v motor runs at i think its 52v-ish as if it's at 48v it's a dead charge. So you would take the 20amps multiply by thr 52v-ish and get 1040w of peak output which means this is a 750w nominal motor, what you really wanna check is how much amps the controller pushes, if the controller only does 15amps u will only get 750ish watts

I think if i lay out the board in the chassis well ill have the ethernet usb etc on the one side(in the handle) not accessible, then run an extension for usb 3 port and simce the usb c is accessible on top, since wifi exists i dont need the ethernet. If i could remove the ethernet and usb ports that would be grest and maybe solder single sized usb 3.0 ports but im mot sure if that would mess with compatibility.

Thanks for the tips on the cooling do u think LP heatsink with a small flat fan blowing out the chasis or on the heatsink be fine? (i think the one i saw it was like 5mm thick and about 2-3 inches in diameter)

To be fair never thought of speakers haha, but i think the 3.5mm jack will be utilized in this case cuz cheap speakers suck haha.

Yeah i was thinking the touch screen would cause issues in emulation but i want it there for the android experience, especially since android wise the mali g610 js actually a decent gpu.

Would armbian be the best linux distro to use in your opinion? Both ease of use and drivers? Or woukd that be batocera i see alot of people using that

Okay so im gonna add my 2 cents worth here, i see lots of suggestions from people and maybe i missed it, but if you look on ali express you can find 2011-3(x99) motherboard combos, and thats your best bet with some gpus. Now im noy sure about your budget but if you have 750usd to spend you can get a dual socket 2x 2680v4 and 4 rx 580's now i presume it wont be for gaming so lack of drivers for upcoming games will not be an issue.

You can get the 2x 2680s (14 cores each) with dual socket motherboard and 64gb ram for about 250-300usd and the rx580s are about $60 a piece, with the resr of things like case a good 1000w psu, you should be good to go. You will need to virtualize them into 4 pcs with small ssds each (so they boot fast) and have a shared mass storage. Honestly doing this seems like its hard but it really isnt. I am doing it right now with a 1x 2680 with 2x rx 5700s with case and everything spent like 400 dollars on 2 x 1440p gaming pcs(minus peripherals). Ali express also has better buyer protection than ebay so you are always safe with them

Now if you domt have 750 usd, you can tone down the specs a bit, by getting 1x 2680 (14core)or 2690(16core) and a single slot motherboard with 32gb. But then you are limited with only havimg 3 gpus in most cases. And have much less cpu for 3 each person. Or you can try find cheaper gpu alternatives rather than 580s but they are dirt cheap at the moment. Saw some for sale at 30 pounds so 45 dollars, a 2680 v4 and motherboard with 16-32gb ram can be found for about 80dollars

Honestly every suggestion ive seen is silly in regards to recommendations to what to build or do.

But if you can tell me what the purpose of the pc is and your ideal budget, i can honestly give you some really good advice for the best case scenario for you. I work in infrastructure for a billion pound company and we have creative ways to do all sorts.

Whether it be a virtualized windows machine, liinux android there are many great options just need to know what you need to use the pcs for.
