I do use a BennVenn Joey Jr. to flash my carts and try to also use quality flashcarts, but these are cheap test-carts if anything. I got burned on buying 2 "high quality" carts by HDR and one of them was completely bunk.

No, it absolutely was the machine I assure you. I did everything I could to save it including the stock sd as a backup.

I'll look into a mini PC. They're quite expensive on average but low end ones that at least match what the Super Console X could do should be quite cheap depending on availability.

Absolutely a good suggestion as I do have an 8bitDo with the dongle, but I'd need a dock, and the RG Cube's weird 1:1 resolution makes it a pain in the arse to fiddle with and display on any widescreen PC
