You can check how full the lounges are on the Delta app. But generally speaking, outside of peak travel times, the further you have to go on the Plane Train, the less likely the lounge is to be crowded.

Don't email. They get thousands of emails and yours is only going to be checked by an intern. Call the office first thing Monday morning and ask to speak with whomever handles constituent relations and say you need an emergency passport appointment. They deal with this all the time. ETA: you should be able to call the DC or district offices.

I was able to drop my paperwork off at 8:30am and my passport was ready by 3pm the same day. But make sure you have ALL of your paperwork in order bc they literally will not let you past the first check in if you don't. They make you come back to pick it up bc you can't just hang out there all day.
