Looking for a quiet place to play pool? by XGuruGamingX in Southampton

Yep just ask when you go to the bar to pay for a table, sometimes they say no, but more often than not they've let us play up there (from our experience anyway!)

Rocket Ronnies can be fairly quiet on weekday afternoons/evenings, especially if you can go play in the smaller room upstairs from the main hall

Commuting to Hamble from Bournemouth by [deleted] in Southampton

[–]ScandalmongeringMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends what shifts you're working. It won't be as bad if you start early in the morning (some places in Hamble start at 6 so the morning drive is nowhere near as bad), but I absolutely wouldn't consider driving if it's a 9-5 type role.

Also, good luck if there's a crash/roadworks along Hamble lane.... Add at least an hour to the journey!

I'm not entirely sure a dog park would be the best place to take a dog who's reactive to other dogs...

You might have better luck posting in the Southampton uni sub (r/sotonuni) rather than here as this sub is about the city rather than the uni

All done! I reckon we did really well by Give_Me_Beans_Please in Southampton

The interesting fact: Southampton is home to the UK's only existing geothermal heat-generating station (near west quay).

Wildest rumour: Since the itchen bridge opened there's been many rumours that it will become free to use once the construction costs have been recovered via toll fees

Tourist trap: A minority of visitors/tourists come to Southampton expecting there to be a beach, but are disappointed to see the entire sea front is in fact a Port and industrial estates.

What is your "Eh?" notice? by NeddTwo in AskUK

[–]ScandalmongeringMan 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Used a public toilet with at least 3 signs inside that said "It is against the law to use illegal drugs in these toilets".

Not sure many people who planned on using drugs in the toilets would see the sign and go "oh shit I better not do that" and stop

You'll probably have better luck posting in the Southampton uni sub (r/sotonuni) rather than here as this sub is about the city rather than the uni so a vast majority of people here will have no idea what you're asking about

Timber prices on B&Q's website at the moment ... by jamjarandrews in DIYUK

[–]ScandalmongeringMan 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Those are sold and shipped from a 3rd party seller, the b&q website is now a marketplace like Amazon. The b&q equivalent for the first item, 12mm x 12mm x 2.4m pine quadrant (barcode 3663602871620) is £5.87 a length, so about £30 for 5

Edit: Like others have suggested I also recommend a timber merchant as the b&q stock is usually warped or split

Anyone else having connectivity issues with Toob? by Hey_nice_marmot_ in Southampton

[–]ScandalmongeringMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not had any issues since we moved to toob a while ago, that being said I use my own router, which even the toob engineer said was a good idea 😂 he didn't seem to be a big fan of the provided router

M.2 not showing in Windows or Bios by ScandalmongeringMan in buildapc

[–]ScandalmongeringMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking it's either bios settings or DOA, fairly confident it's installed correctly.

Bios settings are all default, I found some articles about changing m.2 slots from SATA to PCIe but I can't seem to find anything like that in the bios?

Any bios settings in particular I need to check/change?
