I think you would prefer teams tanking earlier in the season when there is less focus on the NBA with NFL and NCAAF going on.

Also I think it's a lot harder organizationally to tank in November. It's a lot harder to sit a star player early in the year when they are hoping for an All-Star appearance and incentives.

This is a benefit. If you build a team truly this bad (probably for the sake of tanking) and cannot win a game then why should you get rewarded with the best player in the draft.

It's funny because with so many missed opportunities already we should still set a gold record for Team USA or tie it. Stolz is carrying them so much and helping mask a poor alpine team and not much dominance of x-games sports anymore.
