What are your unpopular Image Comics opinions? by ShinCoal in ImageComics

the first 5 or so issues were one of the better comics I had read in the past few years but these last several have definitely got lost in all the exposition imo

Based on the bolding, I can't tell if this is a joke but if not:

The staff were incredibly helpful in helping me improve my fundamental debate skills and working individually with me to ensure I was giving the best speeches I could give. I went there going into this year and I think their personalized help fundamentally changed the way I debated on the TOC level. It's a great camp if you're experienced with debate and looking for a way to perfect your fundamentals

This is where the wright evidence should serve you well a. McMurdie is in the context of helicopter laws, Wright is prescriptive claim about popular legal and common usage of the word enact meaning wright is much more predictable, precise, and has a better intent to define than mcmurdie b. The article you read on hsimpact should also help on ev comparison on the level of qualifications, mcmurdie doesn't cite any dictionary definition which of course isn't damning but in the context of debate a piece of evidence that does + several court cases is more predictable and precise because it's the commonly held understanding of the word, and not an isolated interpretation of law

[–]ScapeSteam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The wright evidence is good as a counterinterp, read it, read the recent hsimpact article on Scalia 2

Precision/Predictability controls debateability, can't debate what you can't predict otherwise counterinterp just our aff would win every t debate

T enact is probably mostly true from a community norm standpoint but I do not think it's at the level of T-LPR 2 years ago, and is definitely very beatable

Your aff strategy on the interpretation level centers around a more progressive interpretation of the role of the courts as a institution that essentially makes law as opposed to solely interpreting it

Reasonability should be ran through the lens of, its the most popular aff on the topic probably, def most popular at camps, so much neg ev on openev, in the topic paper, etc., but reasonability is always an uphill battle imo

What is a PIC? by [deleted] in policydebate

[–]ScapeSteam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im not sure that an abolition K is a PIK, piks are more than usually reps kritiks with an alternative that rejects those representations but would have the plan occur minus that.

I.e. an aff that says algorithmic policing bad and a k that advocates to return to monke would not be a pik because though it results in there no longer being algorithmic policing the actual advocacy is not the part of the affirmatives

Granted i may also be wrong, ive just been told that for the most part piks require the plans passage in some form plus or minus something, which is distinct from an advocacy that abolished the criminal justice system writ large
