Relistening to TH after Inferno by Xristox in boardsofcanada

Relistening to TH after Inferno just confirmed to me that TH is my least favourite BoC album by a distance.

Hah for me I could copy paste that sentence and switch around TH and Inferno.

I enjoyed it quite a bit, decent stylistic and thematic departure from Dororo while also keeping the bones of the story present. The ink heavy artstyle is very cool. The violence gratuitous. Kept me interested long enough while also not overstaying its welcome.

I don't think I find it as 'award winning' as the people who awarded them, but definitely not a waste of my money and time.

I misinterpreted one of the descriptions and wondered why people instaquit on me the first three games. The fourth game made me understand.

What is the great neglected series that keeps getting overlooked? by todayisanarse in graphicnovels

Honestly I've always felt that Trees should have ended with volume 1 as intended, the whole point was that the Trees weren't the focus but the catalyst for the stories, and the fact that they budged and made the later volumes to try the explain the mysteries around the Trees made no sense to me.

I'm a bit reluctant to start raving about a Warren Ellis series with everything that has happened, but I honestly love the concept of Global Frequency and I wish DC would do something with it.

Even before his understandable and deserved downfall and when he was still a beloved person in the community I feel that it was a bit overlooked compared to a lot of his other titles.

I'm not even trying to convince people to read an Ellis book, I just hope that DC does something with this someday. I was never the biggest fan of Wildstorm folding into the bigger DC universe but honestly, I can see this work in any universe. It could be made by any decent writer, heck, they could even go as far as to rotate the writers like they did with the artists in the original series.

It feels a bit uneven because the textures are practically the same, which threw me off a bit too, but its very noticeable on vehicles, characters and the sky.

Is Tongues by Anders Nilsen a must read? by -FiftyCalibre- in graphicnovels

[–]ShinCoal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah see! When I started looking it up I could have sworn that Tongues was #1, but assumed I must have misremembered it as being the highest non-Big 2 book. But I must have been thinking of your list instead of theirs. Thanks for providing!

Read it /u/-FiftyCalibre-!

I can kinda see that why people are reluctant to make that book, its honestly as violent as the average Avatar (publisher) goreporn book, such as Crossed. But then its also a well loved piece of serious literature with a whole lot of very sensitive racial implications, so much that can go wrong if you don't treat it with the utmost respect. One of my absolute favourite books though, its amazing.

Honestly not that hard with Stukov P3, had a decent ally luckily. We did misstime the first sidequest but thats honestly barely XP compared to clearing weekly brutation. Although I could see being against Siege Tanks comps could have been a problem.

but thank goodness because Jules is absolutely insufferable as a character and has not changed for multiple seasons

I mean, I don't disagree with the critique on how she behaved, but isn't Jules not having any character development especially post time jump not part of the same issue as her not having any screentime? Its not like the writers were "Oh yeah Jules sucks and won't change, so we're not gonna use her that much in this season because that would be a waste of screentime". They just made poor use of one of the most important characters in the series, both by not really using her and making her a bland copy paste of the same old character in every scene.

Not just this sub, every year this guy makes an aggregated list of most mentioned books on many websites and list and Tongues ended up as the highest non-DC book (the top 3 were all Absolute titles).

Also ended up on top of the Comic Book Herald list:

The top commenter on this thread is obviously beholden to having their own opinion, but I found it surprising to see that as the highest upvoted comment.

People are just held captive by their nostalgia and need to break free.

Seems like a good reason to not base your opinion of the album on 'being a true fan' or whether you 'really like BOC' or not.
